Visit to Greasbrough Dam

Y1/2R had a fabulous morning learning about our local area with a visit to Greasbrough Dam. We had lots of fun strolling around the dam, dancing in the leaves and puddles, feeding the ducks, searching for pine cones and seeing lots of wonderful wildlife.

Y1/2 and Y2N online phonics learning

Y1’s and Y2’s have been learning from home and took part in a fantastic online phonics lesson led by Mrs Ramsay, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Slazak on Thursday. The children were looking at different ways to spell the ‘ai’ phoneme. Everyone was brilliant and identified the sound buttons and the different ways. Michael even challenged everyone to use an ‘ai’ word in a sentence.

Anti Bullying Week

On Wednesday 18th, key stage 2 took part in an anti-bullying assembly with Anne Foxley-Johnson. It was great to unite as an academy against bullying!

Y6 loved odd sock day and creating their handies on Monday.

Y5/6AG were inspired by the messages they have learnt during our friendship week and created their own poster. The children each wrote their own ‘I choose’ pledge inside an odd sock. Y5/6AG pledged to stand up against bullying. We are very proud of their amazing work!

Year 3B discussed the part they would play to stop bullying. They used their communication and teamwork skills to share the qualities of a good friend and how they like to model these on the playground.

Remembrance Sunday

Last week we held a Remembrance Service with our friends from Rockingham Junior and Infant School. Their service was led by Rev Lyn Wortley and Mrs Fearnley also joined with us for the service. During the service we held a 2 minute silence to remember those who lost their lives in the war. Children have also been learning about the significance of the poppy.

F1 Story of the week

Our story this week is The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we had fun acting out the life cycle stages of the Caterpillar.
