In March, we had a visit from Sahra

Beckham, the manager of Ishka’s

store in Warrnambool, Victoria.

Sahra had the chance to see our BCF

students’ activities and visited several

families in North Bali Communities.

Ishka has been one of our valued corporate supporters

since 2014. They raise funds for Bali Children Foundation

through in store campaigns, including their current carry

bag fundraising program.

Presently, Ishka are sponsoring 45 children in North Bali

communities including a nurse in Tertiary studies

On the first day, Sahra joined the family visit with Calbee

Lim, Elizabeth Foo, and Patricia Ang from Caring and

Sharing, a charity community based in Singapore. They

visited 8 families who lived in Dencarik, Ambengan, and

Tegeha villages.

The families were all very welcoming!

The Village Open Day was also joined by BCF Admin Manager– Tineke Indrajaya, District BCF Manager– Wayan Anggriani, Project Manager – Prima Chandra.

For the second day, the first item on the agenda was visiting the

English and computer classes in Banjar. It was really nice to see that

all the students enthusiastically enjoyed their lessons.

Next, everyone went to Ambengan Bale Banjar to watch performances of Silat and Panyembrama dance performed by BCF

students. We also had a surprise

birthday celebration for our

CEO- Marg Barry!

Dance time! Sahra asked all of the children to dance with the theme to inspire them to dream big and never give up in life. The girls also taught her how to dance to the Indonesian Dangdut song “Sambalado.”

On her last day, Sahra visited a school in

Pegentengan where the EITV is held for children in

the community.

Unfortunately, the school was quiet because most

of the students had gone back home after classes.

One of the students she met was Komang.

Komang’s father had passed away and his mother

has suffered a stroke. He is now the main carer for

his mother because his

brother has to work during the day.

Sahra was amazed by how strong the young

boy is!

The visit was memorable. Every student and the families that Sahra met have different stories to tell and they have something in common: they are always grateful for their life and never forget to smile.

“I am so happy for myself and

Ishka to be part of this amazing

work,” she said.
