Course : Collecting, Managing and Using Data Venue: Hall B - 2nd floor

Course Objective The data are the most important and form a vital element in planning and management of eye care service delivery programmes. The data driven decisions often help planners to use the limited resources optimally for a greater impact. Without proper data collection methods in place, eye care programmes remain ineffective and at times may result in poor outcomes and outputs.

Developing a systematic data collection and management system on key performance indicators right at the inception of any eye care programmes can result in providing better services. Regular monitoring of the data and timely intervention driven by data are essential at all levels of care.

This course will provide an overview on setting up systems for data collection and data management at community, primary and secondary levels of eye care. The course also provides examples on how the data can be used for monitoring quality of services and for taking ‘informed decisions’ for more efficient and effective service delivery.
