About - MGIRED
• Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED) is a Southern Regional Institute established in the year 2000 in Bangalore with the assistance of MNRE and Rural Development and Panchayath Raj, Government of Karnataka. It is set up to cater to the training needs of Southern States/UT’s.

Activities of MGIRED
• Organize training programmes for Elected
Representatives & Officials of Panchayat Raj
Institutions, rural youth, bankers on
conservation of fossil fuel sources & promotion
of Renewable Energy (RE) sources viz. solar,
wind, pico-hydro & bio energy sources.
• Research & consultancy work related to
renewable energy, waste to energy, financing
renewable energy equipments & services etc.

• Campus of 4 Hectare area within
Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation.
• Energy park displaying various devices
to harness renewable energy sources.
• Conference Hall & class room.
• Hostel with 20 rooms to accommodate 40
people.

Student Summer Internship
• Final year Engineering students of post
graduate studies in energy discipline can
take up project work at MGIRED.
• Project work 8-12 weeks can be
undertaken to which a weekly stipend of
Rs.1000/- could be given. To begin with 4
students can be taken annually.
