To facilitate God’s vision for Carmel, we follow a process of Share, Care, Prepare, Dare and Welfare. This enables us to help believers along their individual journey of discovery and faith.

The first stage of the journey is SHARE, sharing God’s love with those searching for a meaningful relationship with Him.

The second stage is CARE, caring for the believer, giving them the tools to live their life successfully as children of God helping them integrate into the life of the Church and partner with the vision.

The third stage is PREPARE, equipping the believer to mature their faith and take the vision forward, through further study of the Word of God.

The fourth stage is DARE, sending disciples into all the world with the love of Christ to pioneer and establish the Kingdom of God, taking all they’ve learned and equipping others.

WELFARE concentrates on the effective management of resources and fulfils our responsibilities to all the organisations to whom we are accountable.

As we enter into 2015 my heart is full of expectation for all that God is going to do in our midst. This year the Lord has told us to Increase, this excites me massively as it is a reflection of His very nature.

I believe that Increase will be so much more than just numbers, I know this will be a year of increase in the miraculous and supernatural. God said to me this year will be as a sign and a wonder. What an exciting time we find ourselves in as we look forward in Christ based faith to increase in our midst.

Transition has brought us to 2015, an exciting year of Increase. We would not have been able to do this if we had not first increased our capacity for God by allowing Him to Transition us in His divine will and purpose. Part of the first prophecy ever given to Michelle and myself while in Bible College in 1986 said this ….

“Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.” Job 8:7;

So this begins another phase of the Vision to Touch the World through the training and equipping of the body of Christ. We are so pleased that you have chosen to join us on our adventure of faith. Enjoy the journey.

SINCE 1996 CARMEL MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL HAS SEEN A STEADY GROWTH AND INFLUENCE IN BRISTOL, THE UK AND BEYOND UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF ITS FOUNDERS AND GENERAL OVERSEER, BISHOP GERRI AND PASTOR MICHELLE DI SOMMA, WHO CONTINUE TO CAST VISION FOR THE MINISTRY GLOBALLY.

The appointment of Pastor Sean and Michelle Leask as CEO of the local operations of the ministry in Bristol, has allowed Bishop Gerri and Pastor Michelle Di Somma to explore other opportunities to expand the vision globally. The concept of one Church, many locations is the Blueprint of the Mission, Strategy and Process that the vision follows. Following this blueprint has seen the work prosper. MISSION:

In line with the Word of God and God’s purposes in the world today, CMI’s mission statement is clear and concise:

He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 9:2. VISION:

Vision is a practical and purposeful necessity for believers in today’s world.

We see that vision comes from God and with this He gives a strategy for its fulfilment. CMI’s vision is rooted in four basic instructions which align with our Lord’s word to Paul.

OUR VISION STRATEGY:

• COVER OUR CITY

• BLESS OUR NEIGHBOURS

• SEND TO THE NATION

• TOUCH THE WORLD

The vision is facilitated by the process of Share, Care, Prepare and Dare. We see this as the circle of life. Undergirding everything we do is the Welfare part of the process, where CMI meets the governmental requirements. All of these are explained further in this booklet.

VALUES:

At Carmel City Church, we value LIFE – Living in Faith and Fellowship Experientially. We recognise that life should not be experienced alone, but should include others. This means building lasting friendships with like-minded people who mutually support each other for the journey.

Our varied and interesting Life Groups facilitate such friendships. These groups meet around common goals and interests, building relationships based on faith in Christ.

In the middle of this booklet is a Life File. Please complete it and hand it to an usher or in at reception so we can help serve you better as you get further involved. Enjoy the Journey!

ENJOYING THE JOURNEY

GROWING THROUGH TRANSITION

Ephesians 4:11-16

We recognise a church that is in revival by the evidence of growth and transition. In order for a church to become revived and its vision fulfilled, I believe there are five things needed to stimulate that growth:

1. Agreement of Purpose – Serving the Vision

Every church is placed by God for a unique purpose in its city or community. The vision summarises that purpose and prophetic revelation will confirm it. Globally, the church’s purpose is the great commission and when we come into agreement to serve the vision, we activate the mission locally.

2. Acknowledgement of Gifting – Serving With My Gift

We have each received the same measure but not necessarily the same gift from God. We each have a part to play in achieving the vision and it is our responsibility to discover our gift and recognise our part. Renewing our minds to the will of God enables us to exercise our gift correctly, make it available to the body of Christ and help others discover theirs.

3. Acceptance of Contribution – Serving Without Fear

We can become insecure when we do not know our gifting, when we do not value it and when we foolishly compare our gifting. Insecurity always stifles growth personally which hinders growth corporately. Fear prevents each part of the body from providing the vital gifts it has, causing the overall body to become weak. It is important that every person employs their time, talent and treasure for the Kingdom.

4. Accommodation of Differences – Serving Without Prejudice

There is such diversity in the participants of the Kingdom of God and that is what makes it so unique. Personal prejudices will hinder a church from stepping into revival and achieving the purpose and vision ordained for it. When we come through the doors of the church, we need to put aside our old man and fully embrace the new man to realise our purpose and potential in the vision of God, celebrating our differences and unifying our diversities.

5. Accelerated Ascendancy – Serving My Community

God’s grand design for everything is to be fruitful and multiply; His vision for the church is to multiply His presence in the community, increasing its influence and being a light in the darkness. When we are walking in the fullness of our potential and in obedience to the Holy Spirit, we will see revival transition from inside the church, to the local community and ultimately to the rest of the world.

Page 8: Vision booklet 2015

position, no longer able to hear the words that God has spoken and miss out on His divine favour and blessing.

Pastor Mark Hankins for Pastors Gerri and Michelle Di Somma at the God Thing Conference 2013: “For even in this hour it seems that it has taken a long time to come to this point, but in the days ahead, there shall be an increase and you will accelerate and go forward and go further faster, for you’ll go from addition into multiplication.“ And the blessing of the Lord shall rest upon you and you will find that the Lord Himself perfects what concerns you. And a greater anointing shall rest upon you and the influence of your voice shall have far reaching effects, and a heavier anointing shall rest upon you and the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in your teaching and in your ministry, it shall grow and multiply and you will feed My sheep,” saith the Lord, “like a shepherd with a fresh anointing and a new strength. And the sheep shall multiply and the blessing of the Lord shall rest upon you and upon this congregation.

Because you’ve been faithful with a few things, now I’ll bring you forth into many things,” saith the Lord. And you’ll find that not one thing has failed of everything the Lord has spoken concerning you, but He’ll bring all to pass and you’ll rejoice and say, ‘Hahaha’, in the time that it looked like it would not work and it would not come to pass, but now the Lord has not only done what I believed and expected, but He has gone beyond that, for it has all come to pass and He’s done exceeding, abundantly above all that I could ask or think.’ So you’ll find an acceleration and an increase, and

In 2015 our vision mandate is INCREASE. We would not have been able to do this if we had not first increased our capacity for God by allowing Him to Transition us in His divine purpose. God has continually brought the scripture in Isaiah 54:2-3; to our attentions in preparation for this next move and the maturing of the vision, which will be next year.

The scripture reads as follows: “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your habitations; do not spare; lengthen the cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and your descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited. Isaiah 54:2-3;

Part of the first prophecy ever given to Michelle and myself while in Bible College in 1986 said this ….

‘there is a fire in your heart and a fire in your mouth and a fire on your feet. Where you go fires will be lit, not little flames, but fires and these fires will burn brightly and not go out…. “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.” Job 8:7;

So we see this word INCREASE coming through time and time again as God continually unfolds His Plan for us locally and the church globally. It is interesting to note that sound waves never stop they just move on out of the position of your hearing, that is why God says He stands over His word to perform it, because it will come to pass in our lives if we are willing to participate in it.

The tragedy is often people become distracted or impatient and move out of

IN 2014 OUR VISION MANDATE FOR THE YEAR WAS TRANSITION, MOVING US TO A NEW POSITION IN THE VISION OF GOD FOR CARMEL. IT REQUIRED OF US TO EMBRACE THE BLUEPRINT OF GOD FOR CARMEL AND EMPLOY OUR GIFTS AS HE REPOSITIONED US INTO HIS DIVINE PURPOSE.

Page 9: Vision booklet 2015

it will take you further in the next two years than you’ve been in the last twenty years. And you’ll say, ‘Ah, that is the blessing of the Lord, the anointing of the Lord.’ And the Spirit of wisdom and revelation shall rest upon you, and you’ll carry and speak the anointing and the glory of the Lord. “And the simplicity of the things that I’ve taught you,” saith the Lord, “many years ago, shall come forth and will multiply into others.”

Increase defined: There are three words that really go together when understanding what God is saying in INCREASE, we see them coming through in scripture often together.

Increase - verb; - the act or process of increasing; to make greater, as in number, size, strength or quality.

Enlarge - verb; - to make larger, to increase the capacity or scope of, to expand.

Expand - verb;- to increase in extent, size, volume and scope; to express in fuller form or greater detail; develop;

The challenge that faces us in this years mandate of INCREASE is to go from a local mentality and application of doing things to a global understanding of God’s blueprint and application, this means a change in attitude, application and adaptability.

Like any army taking hold of new territory there is certain equipment we will need and be dressed in to succeed in the mission.

Ephesians 6:14-20; ‘Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of god; Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.’

The ATTITUDE of Increase is to begin to think

globally, to break free from a mentality of small thinking and move into the realm of big believing. It is to change the truths we hold that are limiting and begin to apply God’s truths of limitless possibility.

Attitude: Belt of Truth and the breastplate of righteousness. Belief determines behaviour, behaviour reveals morality.

The APPLICATION of Increase is to take what we know on a local level and begin to apply it globally, begin to do what we do in Bristol in every place that God takes us, to be willing to GO and be part of the greater picture.

Application: Gospel of Peace and the Shield of Faith. The GO of the Gospel, creating shelters of God’s Grace.

The ADAPTABILITY of Increase is to keep our eyes on the vision and not the circumstances that may confront us. To keep the mission before us and to not stop or become distracted until the mission has been accomplished.

Adaptability: Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit. Renewing our minds to the Word of God in doing the impossible.

If God is the same yesterday, today and forever, it makes sense that he would give us, His children, a specific plan and strategy to save our generation from the end-time judgement. God has given Carmel the blueprint, tools, materials and gifting we need to rescue humanity and build strong local churches globally, all we need to do is obey, follow His instruction and build!

NOW TO HIM WHO IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK, ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKS IN US. Ephesians 3:20; NKJV

Are you willing to Increase the God-capacity in you to do the impossible naturally?

Page 10: Vision booklet 2015

shareThe first stage of the journey is SHARE. This essentially is sharing the love of God through the Gospel. Primarily for an unbeliever (seekers), this is their first point of contact with Carmel. Our audience is split into three areas:

- The unchurched – Seekers - The dechurched – Disillusioned - The churched – Finding a new home

From the car park to the Coffee Bean coffee shop, facilities must be clearly mapped out for visitors and friends of Carmel, so as to make their time with us a wonderful experience as they encounter the presence of God. Connecting with friends, family and visitors must be our highest priority to make their journey of faith an enjoyable and meaningful one.

Every time the Church gathers together it is an event: to present people with an opportunity to encounter God as Father. From inspired worship to the preaching of the Word, everything must be meticulously planned with the intentional goal of allowing the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of the people. Without a meaningful encounter with God there cannot be purposeful change brought in lifestyle.

DARE PREPARE

Preparing this present generation of young people to be the leaders in tomorrow’s church and nation through related and relevant gatherings and activities.

Training them to boldly take hold of their future through the biblical principles contained in the Word of God, being doers of the Word and not hearers only.

Helping our children to have their own spiritual encounter with God so as to live successfully for Christ. Teaching children about their heavenly Father and helping them to discover the gifts that God has placed in them to become world changers.

Supporting and undergirding parents in the responsibility to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

One church with many locations across the city where people can readily receive and participate in the events planned to have an encounter with God. The strategy God gave us was to ‘Cover our City’, and we do this through the active participation of partners in the different locations.

The second stage of the journey is CARE. This is essentially for people who have given their lives to the Lord and who need help adjusting to a Christian way of living.

These people need access to the many support structures that we have in order for them to become integrated into the church.

Family LIFE Groups centre around the nucleus of the family unit.

Families gather at convenient times in homes around the city to discuss the Word of God and fellowship together. Family Life Groups will have an outward focus of evangelism and outreach.

Meeting the needs of the Body of Christ is as important as seeing the vision accomplished. Without the partners, the vision is only a dream. Taking care of the partners at Carmel involves spirit, soul and body that encompasses our social, economical and relational responsibilities.

Doing life together through social activities helps the believer find their place in the purpose of God.

Mentoring for all ages and genders, which is the maturing arm of the church, extending from study of the Word to the more social and activity base of relationships found in interest groups.

Providing a place where there is material provision for those who really need such support, through The Storehouse and the Good Samaritan Fund.

Helping the partners take control of the resources God has given them to properly manage their lives and live debt free to empower them to become contributors towards the needs of others.

Family fun time together is important in any family, for both purpose and play, helping each other develop the social skills to do life. Activities that contribute to this are movie nights, agape meals, concerts, picnics and many similar activities that involve the whole church family.

The third stage of the journey is PREPARE. Once a person partners with the vision of the church, they need to be equipped to get involved in taking the vision forward.

They are encouraged to serve in one or more of the departments.

Providing further education in a variety of subjects. Reaching out to the wider community through education, whether knowledge based or of a more practical type, serving the community, commending the love of God.

Providing courses of instruction based on God’s Word that prepare students for service and ministry, developing godly character in an environment that enables the life changing power of God to do its work in each student. The first year course is to establish the foundations of life, and second year to better function in service to the Body of Christ. The third year program is for those who believe they are called into full-time ministry.

Following the ‘Accelerated Christian Education’ system of education, which centres on the Word of God, a child is equipped for life in every area of their development. By providing individual instruction and group activities through the Christ-centred programs of the Christian School, children are prepared for the responsibilities ahead of them, educating them for now and into eternity.

Training the believer in short-term courses through the ‘In Christ’ programmes. These provide foundational doctrine and understanding of the church and its function. They further teach Christians to flow in the anointing through prayer helping, counselling, healing and other practical ministry opportunities.
