How do I install and setup Viseco? Get using Viseco quickly in three simple steps: Step 1 Install hardware and configure Viseco. Step 2 Capture the functions from your projectors remote control. Step 3 Begin using Viseco instead of the manufacturer’s remote control to control your projector.

How does Viseco work? Viseco works by capturing the infrared signals emitted from your projector’s remote control when buttons are pressed to access functions on your projector. Once it has learnt these signals, Viseco can control your projector whilst monitoring for periods of inactivity, before automatically shutting down your projector should it be left accidentally running. The manufacturer’s remote control can now be stored away safely as it is no longer needed to control your projector.

How do I control my projector with Viseco? Once you have captured your most favourite projector functions including start-up and shutdown; control your projector using Viseco’s touchless technology. Access each function with a wave of your hand across the touchless sensor. Configuring Viseco to safely shutdown your projector automatically after a period of inactivity, will save on accidental lamp usage and power consumption.

7

Page 9: Viseco

How do I capture functions that need multiple buttons presses? Although the majority of your projector’s functions can be accessed by pressing just one of the buttons on your remote control, access to some functions may require a sequence of button presses. For example, source select might be accessed by pressing the buttons: [menu] - [select] - [up] - [select]; or shutting down your projector may require you to press: [off] - [off]. For this reason, Viseco is able to capture the infrared signals from a sequence of button presses and store them together as one function. Each bank can store the infrared signals of up to ten buttons presses. The diagram (right) shows an example sequence of accessing “clear clean filter message”.

What are memory banks? Viseco has seven memory banks to store functions from your remote control. Banks 1 and 2 must be used for storing the start-up and shutdown signals for your projector, the remaining banks can be used for other functions that you want Viseco to control. Each memory bank can store the infrared signals of up to ten button presses to access that function on your projector. When using Viseco, each function can be accessed by waving your hand over the touchless sensor.

Page 12: Viseco

Step 1 | Install the hardware Fix the infrared emitter in a position that is elevated and in direct line-of-sight of the projector. Install a wall-mounted or conduit backbox where Viseco will be used. Route the cable from the infrared emitter to the back/conduit box through the trunking.

Installing and Configuring Viseco Viseco communicates with your projector through infrared signals. For Viseco to control your projector reliably, the infrared communication between Viseco and your projector must not be interrupted. Viseco comes supplied with an infrared emitter which can be mounted in a position that is elevated and in direct line-of-sight to your projector. This prevents the infrared signals from being blocked by passing persons or large objects and therefore maintaining a reliable communication with your projector.

11 11

Step 4c | Set projector group Different projectors work differently with their remote controls. Viseco needs to know how to work with your projector. Most projectors will require the default setting; however some projectors manufactured by Sony™ and other companies may work differently. Set the correct projector group that best matches your projector using jumper switches 5 and 6. Note: If you find your projector is not responding to Viseco; try changing this setting to another projector group.

14

Step 4b| Set shutdown alert The shutdown alert allows time for the user to cancel the automatic shutdown. Set the duration of the shutdown alert to be either 1 minute or 15 minutes using jumper switch 4.

Page 16: Viseco

Step 5 | Capturing functions Choose the projector functions you would like to use with Viseco including start-up and shutdown. For example: blank screen, source select, and freeze. Note the button-sequence needed to access these functions.

15

5a | Enter capture mode Ensure AC adaptor is switched off. Press and hold the Clone Button. Switch on AC adaptor. Release the button when the green LED flashes. See Fig 5a.

5b | Select memory bank The memory bank is indicated by the number of beeps sounded as you enter that bank - starting at bank 1. You can press the clone button to jump to the next bank, until you circle back to bank 1. See Fig 5b.

5c | Press button-sequence Point remote control at Viseco’s infrared receiver. Press button-sequence needed to be captured. As Viseco processes each button press, the green LED will illuminate indicating it’s busy. Wait for green LED to go out before continuing with next button. A sequence of up to 10 button presses can be captured to a memory bank. Example; shutting down your projector may require pressing the off button twice, so you would press [off] > [off]. Note: Viseco will also record pauses between each button press, should your projector need time to respond to each button.

5d | Capture next function Repeat Step 5b to capture next function. When finished capturing your functions switch off AC adaptor. 15

Note: Ensure that capture takes place away from any windows, infrared emitting devices, TVs, monitors, and ICT equipment. Stray infrared signals may interfere with the capture and corrupt your functions.

Page 20: Viseco

How do I control my projector with Viseco? Once you have setup Viseco, you are ready to start controlling your projector. Thanks to Viseco’s touchless sensor controlling your projector is simple, secure and hygienic. The touchless sensor incorporates a capacitive sensing system and three red LEDs to indicate Viseco’s status.

What is capacitive sensing? A capacitive sensor can detect human presence, such as a hand or finger from up to 30mm; eliminating need for any physical contact. This in turn improves hygiene by preventing cross contamination between users, whilst also improving access for disabled users who may find the physical pressing of small remote control buttons difficult. Using Viseco to control your projector need not be more than a wave of your hand.

19

Page 21: Viseco

Starting up your projector Place your hand close to the touchless sensor until the fascia LEDs glow. Continue holding for three seconds until the fascia LEDs flash and an ascending audible tone is heard. Viseco will send the start-up function to your projector. Your projector will now start-up. Note: If you have just shutdown your projector, projector start-up will not be possible for two minutes to allow time for your projector to shutdown completely.

Controlling your projector When your projector is running, access the custom functions captured by waving your hand across the touchless sensor a number of times. Each pass of your hand selects a different group which is indicated by an ascending tone and illumination of the fascia LEDs (see left). Once you have selected the bank you want, firmly move your hand away from the touchless sensor. Viseco will send that function to your projector.

Shutting down your projector Place your hand close to the touchless sensor until the fascia LEDs glow. Continue holding for three seconds until the fascia LEDs flash and a descending audible tone is heard. Viseco will send the shutdown function to your projector. Your projector will now shutdown safely and Viseco will enter standby.

Note: If you have just started-up your projector, projector shutdown will not be possible for two minutes to allow time for your projector to fully start-up.

Cancel automatic shutdown If your projector has not been controlled with Viseco after the preset inactivity time; an automatic shutdown will take place. Indicated by repeated bleeping and alternating flashes of the fascia LEDs, the automatic shutdown can by cancelled by a wave of your hand across the touchless sensor. Viseco will send the shutdown function to your projector if the user does not cancel the automatic shutdown within the alert time.

Page 23: Viseco

Synchronising Viseco Occasionally Viseco may come out of synchronisation with your projector. This simply means Viseco thinks your projector is running when it’s not, or vice versa your projector is on and Viseco is in standby. This usually occurs if there is a power cut, or that your projector has been started up with the manufacturer’s remote control. Place Viseco into standby by following the instruction for “shutting down your projector” in Using Viseco or disconnect then reconnect mains adapter. Shut your projector down manually with the manufactures remote or on the actual projector itself.

Cleaning Viseco In some dusty conditions, Viseco may need to be cleaned. Simply using a damp cloth, wipe down the fascia at times. Ensure the touchless sensor needs to be dry before use as liquids can affect the reliability of capacitive sensing.

Relocating Viseco Viseco can easily be removed and relocated to work with another projector. If you relocate and need to use a different type of projector you will need to re-clone the new projectors remote control. Simply follow the installation, configuration and capture steps in the previous chapter.

Resetting Viseco Should Viseco need resetting to factory settings: Ensure that the AC adaptor is switched off. Press and hold the clone button while switching on the AC adaptor. The green LED will flash. Keep holding the clone button in until you hear three beeps. Viseco will erase all the stored signals.

Troubleshooting

24

Page 26: Viseco

| Capturing Functions Troubleshooting | Viseco does not enter capture mode Ensure the Clone button is pressed and held whilst powering Viseco. Viseco does not respond to my remote control when I attempt to capture functions Ensure the batteries fully charged in the remote control you are capturing. Ensure you are pointing the remote control at Viseco’s infrared receiver. Ensure there are no other infrared emitting devices in the area or that you are capturing away from any windows. The function on my projector I would like to capture is accessed by multiple button presses on the remote control You can capture a function made up of up to ten button presses. Ensure you leave a suitable pause time between each button. See Install & Setup Viseco. Viseco’s green LED flashes and three deep tones are sounded when I attempt to capture more than ten buttons to a memory bank You can capture up to ten button presses to access a function on you projector. Once all ten have been captured the indicator LED will flash to indicate that the memory bank is full.

25

Page 27: Viseco

| Using Viseco Troubleshooting | Viseco does not respond to the presence of my hand or fingers Ensure the Touchless Sensor has been connected to the mainboard, and that the AC adapter is connected. Viseco beeps once when I attempt to send a function to my projector. This indicates that the memory bank you are accessing has no captured function in it. Ensure you have correctly captured a function to that memory bank. Not all memory banks have to be used for Viseco to work as long as the Start-up and Shutdown groups are filled. Viseco sporadically controls my projector after I have captured the functions. Ensure you have set the correct Projector Group for your projector, or that you have tried different projector group settings; see Install & Setup Viseco. Ensure there infrared emitter box is directly facing the projector and is elevated above any obstacles. Ensure that capturing of functions took place away from windows, ICT equipment, and infrared emitting devices. My projector does not respond to Viseco at all. Ensure that you have wired the Infrared Emitter to the mainboard correctly. Ensure the memory banks have functions captured to them. Ensure you have set the correct Projector Group to match your projector My projector does not respond in time to captured buttons in a memory bank Ensure you have allowed a suitable pause time between each captured button for a function. You projector may need time to process the infrared signal before Viseco send the next button signal. See Install & Setup Viseco

26

Page 28: Viseco

| General Troubleshooting | My projector does not shutdown completely and requires a confirmation step to complete the shutdown Ensure you have captured the correct shutdown sequence into the Shutdown bank, for example, if your projector requires two presses of the shutdown button, you need to capture “Off Button” twice in that bank, with a 2 second delay. Viseco does not give me enough time to cancel the Automatic Shutdown You can set Viseco to give 1 minute or 15 minutes automatic shutdown alert before it will shut down your projector. Set the appropriate shutdown alert time that suits your needs. See Install and Setup Viseco for more details. I can’t remember what functions I have capture to Viseco Ensure you have logged the functions in each memory bank using the mini adhesive wall chart provided. If you can’t remember which functions you had captured, we suggest you reset Viseco following the instructions in ‘Using Viseco’ and then re-capture the functions from your projector remote control. My projector is on, but Viseco is off or Viseco is on, but my projector is off Viseco has come out of synchronisation with your projector. This usually happens when the original remote control has been used to start-up or shutdown your projector. Shutdown your projector with Viseco, and then manually shutdown your projector using the buttons on the projector so that Viseco is off and your projector is off. I want Viseco to run from batteries due to We recommend that Viseco is powered from the AC adapter provided, to ensure sustained protection from accidental running of your projector. Contact your distributor for more information on powering Viseco from batteries.

27

Page 29: Viseco

My projector does not automatically shutdown my projector Ensure that you have captured the shutdown function correctly from your remote control, and set the Automatic Shutdown jumper switch to the appropriate time. The touchless sensor does not respond or is too sensitive to my hand movements. Practice moving your hand across Viseco’s Touchless Sensor. The Touchless Sensor will automatically calibrate to its surroundings. Movements which are too fast, close, or far away will result in unreliable operation. We recommend you take the time to adapt to using the touchless sensor and accessing the functions you have captured. My query is not listed above For more information please visit our website at:
