GOALS AND OBJECTIVES1. Student will be able to determine the difference between structure

of virus and the other organism.2. Student will be able to identify each part of virus structure and its

function.

INTRODUCTIONA. COMPARISON BETWEEN VIRUS, PROKARYOTIC CELL, AND

EUKARYOTIC CELL STRUCTURE1. Viruses: submicroscopic, noncellular entities which consist only of

genetic material (can be DNA or RNA) and a protein coat (capsid), with or without a lipoprotein envelope around the capsid.

2. Prokaryotes : cells which do not contain a nucleus or organelles (other than ribosomes). Bacteria (Unicellular life form) constitute prokaryotes.

3. Eukaryotes: cells which do contain a nucleus or organelles. They may be unicellular life form (such as protozoa or plankton) or individual cells of multicellular organisms such as plants, animals or human beings.
