The health and safety of our attendees and exhib-itors is our top priority, so as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact health, travel, and the ability to hold large gatherings, we recognize many of you may not be comfortable travelling, or you may not be able to travel due to company restrictions.

However, our community still wants and needs to connect with each other, learn about the latest indus-try updates, and grow our careers and organizations.

So the SNAME Maritime Convention is going vir-tual for 2020. SMC – A Virtual Event will be held during the same week that the in-person SMC was scheduled: Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2020.

leisure. And while an in-person event gives access to the event for the 4 days of the live event, SMC Virtual gives access for a full 90 days after the close of the live event.

Additionally, SMC Virtual means no travel expenses—no airfare, hotel, meals,

or ground transportat ion costs. You attend from the comfort of your own home or offi ce.

Following are just a few of the sessions and events that attendees will enjoy during the four days of SMC Virtual. Dominique

Roddier, principal at Ocergy, will kick things off on Sept. 29 with a keynote ses-sion. Following technical sessions focused on such topics as “Man-Hour Estimation for Forming Curved Hull Plates,” presented by Jinho Song of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, SNAME’s Live Exhibit Hall will open at 12 noon ET. Afternoon sessions will include a panel discussion, “Floating Renewable Energy,” chaired by Arjan Voogte on MARIN USA, that will examine the latest in maritime energy. Th e fi rst day will be capped off with the SNAME President’s Networking Game Night.

In fact, networking opportunities will play a big role in the event. Th roughout the event, there will be multiple breaks in the programming where you will have oppor-tunities to have one-on-one and group networking sessions - via typed chat or video - where you can connect with attendees, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors. Plus, take advantage of live Q&A sessions after eachtechnical presentation, as well as topicalnetworking rooms where you can meet with various subsets of the maritime community.

Along with SNAME’s Live Exhibit, day two on Sept. 30 will feature such techni-cal sessions as “Th e Propane Fueled Ship,” by Darren Monzingo of SeaOne Holdings, a nd “Added Resista nce a nd Added Power of the KCS in Head Seas,” by Jacob Woeste of the University of Michigan. Other highlights of day two will include a Student/YP/Industry Roundtable, fol-lowed by a Student Social and a Young Professional Social.

Morning technical sessions on day three, Oct. 1, will feature “Solution to Optimize the Electrical Design through the Digital Th read,” presented by Veronica Alonso de los Rios and Hendrik Henri Kramer of CADMATIC. Th e afternoon slate of sessions will include “iFEM for Marine Structure Digital Twins,”

SMC Virtual attendees will learn and interact with colleagues from their homes and offi ces.

At an in-person event, attendees have the ability to attend a maximum of 10 of

the concurrent technical sessions; at SMC Virtual, attendees can attend all 50

concurrent technical sessions, either live on on-demand at your leisure.

Taking advantage of ourcurrent angled header profilewe designed a convergenttype profile which allowsfor the development ofstagnation pressure dueto fluid inertia.

TurboTunnelHeader Design.

Two round spacers on eachend of the double stack actas more than spacers -creating a swirling turbulentaction in incoming sea water,to yield better temperatureprofile.

Engineered flow diverters“flush” the stagnated areasbetween the tubes with seawater. This scoopingaction forces convectionbetween hot tubes & lowertemperature sea water.
