Virtualization means to create a virtual version of a device

or resource, such as a server, storage device, network or

even an operating system where the framework divides

the resource into one or more execution environments

• Active Directory is a special-purpose database.

• This directory is designed to handle a large number of read

and search operations and a significantly smaller number of

changes and updates.

What is Domain Tree?• A domain tree is made up of several domains that share a common

schema and configuration, forming a contiguous namespace. Domains

in a tree are also linked together by trust.

• A forest is a single instance of Active Directory. • When you have multiple forests in an enterprise, by default, act

separately from each other as if they were the only directory service in your organization.

What is Domain Forest?

• The global catalog is a distributed data repository that contains a

searchable, partial representation of every object in every domain in

a multi domain Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) forest.

•  The global catalog is stored on domain controllers that have been

designated as global catalog servers and is distributed through

multi master replication

• Organizational Units(OU’s) are containers that provide the hierarchical mechanism

for organizing objects within the domain.

• OU’s can contain user, group and computer objects

• Active Directory organizational units cannot contain objects from other domains.
