Virtual Pitch Requirements

• NGN have selected ZOOM platform for web conference

• Get yourself familiar with https://zoom.us/

• We will send April 4 ZOOM invitation to given emails

• Download Zoom in your laptop/desktop/smartphone

• Practice Zoom conference usage with your team

• EVERYONE MUST HAVE VIDEO & AUDIO – BOTH on with

high speed internet capability

Readiness

• Each team will be assigned a numerical number

• Based on your feedback on pitch timing preference a list

will be published by March 22

• Zoom based invitation with meeting ID will be given to all

team participants by March 22

• EVERYONE MUST HAVE VIDEO and AUDIO ON (check

numerous time!!)

Virtual Pitch Format

• Pitch timing break-up

• 10 min. pitch (follow pitch guide- 9 slide)

• 5 min. Q & A and feedback

• 2 min. Judging

How April 4 event will unfold?

• First team

• Arrive @8:50 AM (VIDEO & AUDIO MUST BE ON)

• Pitch @9:00 am

• Second team

• Arrive @9:10 am in waiting room

• Pitch @9:20 am

• Break: @10:20 AM (20 min), @12:00 PM (60 min),

@2:40 PM (20 min)

How to Check-in Virtual Pitch Room on April 4

• First preference: all team members check-in from one

Zoom email account and pitch from “one location”

(depending on govt. mandate & parents’ consent)

• Second preference: All teammates check-in from their

Zoom email account from different location

How to “Check-in” Virtual Pitch Room on April 4

• Each team will wait in a waiting room for 10 to 15 min.

• Moderator will allow you to check-in

How to Pitch

• All members must speak – take turns one at a time (VIDEO

and AUDIO must be ON)

• Make sure no background noise during pitch

• Your presentation will be recorded

• STEM DEMO:

• Hardware: Take photograph/video of prototype

• Software: Showcase with live DEMO

• What role do want the judges to play (e.g. investors, politicians,

social impact entrepreneurs, industry influencers, etc.)

• Are you presenting a STEM or POLICY solution?

Slide #2: Problem Definition

• Define the problem you're addressing

• Who are the customers/users/recipients and how

are they impacted?

• What is the size of the market ($) or social impact

opportunity (e.g. number of people impacted, total

amount of time people are impacted)?

Slide #3: Solution

• What is your unique value proposition?

• What is your 20 second elevator pitch ( i.e.

“We are the Uber for bicycles” or “We are

policy change maker to implement gun control

measure”)

Slide #4: Influence Goal

• Call to action: what are you trying to convince the

judges to do or believe? (e.g. give grant funding,

make an investment, provide legislative support, etc.)

• Everyone Must State and Say Verbally That “ We are

Going to Convince You that Our Proposal is Worth

$xyx Seed Money”

Slide #5: Empirical Validation (Pick at least one)

Prototype Demo

• STEM solution present DEMO with prototype – functional or

no- functional (functional will get high grade)

Policy Campaign Results

• POLICY solution present DEMO with campaign results, i.e.

change.org petition response (https://ngn.org/change-org-

petition/) or social media marketing response and local

promotional and awareness campaign. It is important to

start campaign early

Slide #6: Financial Module (Make it Simple!)

• First, DON’T bother about showing three years financials/sales

• NEW GUIDE (February 28, 2020). This is what you need to present:

• COGS (cost of goods)- unit cost

• Expenses (direct labor + material + overheads)

• Retail value (if applicable)

• Underlying assumptions

• What milestones you have achieved

• How will you scale-up?

• Mention - Who are Your Stack Holders?

• How are you planning on getting customers’

attention?

• What will your sales process look like?

• How will you reach to target market and what sales

channel will you use?
