About VAMMHA

The Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association

(VAMMHA), was established in 1965 as the Virginia Trailer

Association to represent the then “mobile home” industry in

Virginia. VAMMHA’s founders, a group of people that included

Al Underwood, Ted Usry and Glenn Teasley, realized that by

joining together, the industry would be able to speak with a

stronger and more effective voice than any individual retailer,

community owner or manufacturer.

Since 1965, VAMMHA has become a leading advocate in Virginia

on issues that affect housing in general and the factory-built

housing industry in particular. Those issues range from building

codes to state and local issues like building codes, zoning, taxation

and transportation to federal issues like the HUD Manufactured

Housing Program, the Manufactured Home Construction and

Safety Standards, the SAFE Act and the Dodd-Frank Act.

VAMMHA members share a common business interest in factory-

built housing. Its primary purpose is to promote its members’

common business interest in factory-built housing, and its primary

activities are directed to improving the business conditions of its

members.

VAMMHA Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame is the highest honor VAMMHA can bestow upon anyone. The

criteria for Hall of Fame Honorees are the following:

Must have been a VAMMHA member, VAMMHA consultant, Friend

of VAMMHA or employee in good standing, for at least 10 years while

the candidate was active

Two-thirds majority vote of the Board and any “Hall of Fame” member

present at the time of voting
