Constitution
Article I
I. NAME-The name of this organization shall be the Virginia Independent
Conference.
IL Purpose -The charter members of the V.l.C. (Eastern Mennonite High
School, Fishburne Military School, Hargrave Military Academy, Holy
Cross, Lynchburg Christian Academy, North Cross School, Rock Hill
Academy, Staunton Military Academy), realizing the benefits that occur
for our students from uniting in our athletic goal, shall strive to promote
and administer athletic competition which will enhance the development of
our students and the relationships of the member schools.
Article II - Membership
Section I. Membership in this conference shall be limited to the charter
members and to other independent schools elected according
to the method prescribed in the Constitution. Membership is not to
exceed sixteen schools. Present members are: Blue Ridge School,
Carlisle School, Covenant School, Eastern Mennonite High
School, Fishburne Military School, Hargrave Military Academy,
Holy Cross School, Miller School, New Covenant School, North
Cross School, Roanoke Catholic School, and Virginia Episcopal
School.
Section II. Non-discriminatory admissions policy is required for membership in
the conference.
Section Ill. Application for new membership shall be made in writing to the
President of the Conference before a scheduled Conference
meeting. The approval of¾ of the members is necessary for
election to the Conference. Voting for league membership will be
done by a show of hands and the result will be given only as
numbers.

Section IV. Each school shall pay annual dues to aid in league expenses
(mailings, telephone bills, awards, etc.). Amount to be determined at
the Spring meeting. Special assessments may be made as deemed
necessary by the league. (current dues are $400.00-see Article VIII)
Article III - Officers
Section I. The officials of the V.I.C. shall be a president and a secretary
treasurer.
Section II. The duties of the officers are as follows: The president shall preside
at all meetings and shall appoint chairmen for all conference
committees. The secretary-treasurer shall preside in absence of the
president. The president shall also be responsible for the
interpretation of the conference rules when questions arise. The
secretary-treasurer shall keep the minutes of all meetings and will be
responsible for all conference correspondence. The secretary
treasurer shall be in charge of all conference funds and issue a bi
annual report of the conference financial situation. He will verify
that weekly standings and statistics have been updated for each
sport. (Schools are required to update statistics weekly.) He will
be given an honorarium for his services. Amount to be set at the
spring meeting each year.
Section III. A vacancy in office or on a committee shall be filled by the action of
the president. He shall accomplish this by emailing a ballot to each
school so they may in turn vote upon a replacement.
Section IV. The president will be elected annually (at the May meeting). The
secretary-treasurer will serve two years in office.
Article IV - Meetings
Section I. There shall be at least three meetings of the conference during the
school year. One of the meetings shall be held in early fall. The
other meeting will be held in May for the purposes of scheduling,
elections, etc. The sites for the meetings will be open for volunteers
to host. Each school may send up to two representatives to
conference meetings and both must be administrators.

Article V - Voting
Section I. Each member school shall have one vote.
Section II. Two-thirds of the members shall constitute a quorum and of this 2/3,
issues other than Article II, section III and Article VII shall be
decided by a simple majority vote.
Article VI - Final Authority
The final authority on all complaints shall be channeled to the president, who in
turn will print a ballot concerning the complaint. He shall email the ballot to each
member school's Athletic Director for a final vote.
Article VII - Amendments
The Constitution and By-laws may be amended at any meeting of the conference
by a ¾ vote of the entire membership.
Article VIII - League Dues
League dues of $400.00 must be paid by October 1st of each school year for the
team(s) to be eligible for league championships or awards. If any school fails to
mail dues in by the deadline, the secretary-treasurer will notify that school and
they will have one week to comply. Then, if the dues are still unpaid, that school
will be ineligible for league championships or awards for that school year.
Article IX - Eligibility Lists
Eligibility lists must be emailed to each participating school prior to the first contest in
that particular sport. Any additions to the eligibility list must be made in writing prior to
the individual athlete's initial participation. Failure to give written notice prior to a
contest will result in a forfeit. Eligibility lists should include: Name, Date of Birth, and
Grade. Schools should notify the League President in case of a protest within 24 hours.
Any school failing to email in original eligibility lists will not be eligible for League
Championships or awards in that sport. All girl's names shall be marked with an asterisk
(*).

An eligibility list must be received by each member school 48 hours prior to the first VIC
game of the season, using the standard VIC eligibility form. Any changes, additions, or
corrections to the original list must be received by each member school 48 hours prior to
the contests, in which the individuals wish to compete. (Adopted Fall 2008)
A separate eligibility form must be sent to each member school for any boy who has
moved from JV to Varsity level during the season. This form must be received 48 hours
before the contests. (Adopted Fall 2008)
Adopted October 10th – 2018 to follow the VISAA eligibility rules
• The student must be a regular bona fide student in good standing of the school that he or she represents and must be enrolled and in attendance at the VISAA school that he or she represents at least 30 days prior to the date of the commencement of the VISAA championship in which he or she proposes to participate to be eligible for such VISAA championship. For purposes hereof, the term “regular bona fide student” shall mean a full-time student taking an average of four hours of classroom instruction per day or at least five academic classes per semester/grade reporting period and is working toward graduation requirements at the school he or she represents. For purposes, hereof, the term “school” shall mean a private, preparatory, parochial or other nonpublic school that is accredited by an accrediting agency approved by the VCPE and that does not derive its financial support from state or local taxes.

A student enrolled in a school at the beginning of the school year cannot be added to an
eligibility list qfler 48 hours prior to one half of the school conference games (JV players
moving up to Varsity are excluded by this rule). (Adopted Fall 2008)
Once a player plays in a PG (post graduate contest they are ineligible in that sport that
season. (Adopted Fall 2008)
When a player is added to an eligibility roster during a season the school must send a
complete roster of players for that team/or each of the conference schools. (Adopted Fall
2008)
Article X - Forfeits
If a member school forfeits a contest, without justifiable reason or cause, then that school
shall be immediately suspended from the league from the time of the suspension until the
beginning of the next season of the sport that caused the suspension. While under
suspension, member schools will not be permitted to compete with the suspended school.
If an event is going to lead to an athletic forfeiture, it is necessary to have a
minimum of 24 hours notice.
Article XI - Participation
When a conference member competes on the varsity level in any sport, the said

member must adhere to the Virginia Independent Conference rules of play.
Article XII - All Sports Trophy
An all sports trophy will be awarded after the completion of spring sports. The
trophy will be awarded on a point basis with points earned in all recognized league
sports. The number of teams participating and each team's standing at the
completion of each season will determine the number of points earned. The last
place team will receive one point, and the first place team will receive an extra
point. In basketball, positions 5-10 will be decided by all regular season V.I.C.
games. In case of a tie in tennis, the determining factor would be head-to-head
competition. In order to qualify as a team in the All-Sports trophy competition,

you must have a team of six in wrestling, a team of four in golf, and you must
enter at least eight events in track.
Eligibility Rules
1. Players can participate in 8th through 12th grades regardless of gender.
2. Age - must have not reached nineteenth birthday on for before the first
day of August of the current school year.
3. Each school should determine academic eligibility of the student.
4. Transfers within league schools should be reviewed by the president to
determine if there is need for further action. (Schools involved should
notify the league president and present him with all details of the
aforementioned transfer.) In case of a protest by a school, the
conference shall determine if further action is needed. The Virginia
High School League procedure for protests will be followed.
5. No scholarships will be given for athletic purposes.
6. High School graduates will not be permitted to participate in athletics.
7. A student listed as a senior at either a conference school or a non
conference school may not repeat their senior year. (A senior is
considered a senior when he is listed on the eligibility list on the first
day of school) 8. V.I.C. teams are allowed to move players up or down from junior
varsity to varsity as they see fit. Note: In basketball, once a JV player
plays in five varsity conference games, he is no longer eligible to play in
junior varsity games.
Virginia Independent Conference Sportsmanship Code
We will strive to observe the following ideals of sportsmanship ...
We shall not take part in any yells that are derogatory to our opponents or
in bad taste to spectators in general.
We will treat the officials, opposing teams, and spectators as guests of our
respective schools.
We will respect the property and reputation of our opponents, as well as
that of our own school.
In all cases we will use good common sense, judgment, and courtesies.

V. I. C. Rules for Play
I. Rules
Virginia High School rules except for V.I.C. changes will be used.
IL Sports recognized for Conference Championships are:
Football, Fall Soccer, Cross Country, Wrestling, Basketball, Swimming,
Indoor Track, Spring Track, Golf, Tennis, Lacrosse.
The deadline for adding new sports will be:
Fall Sports October Ist
Winter Sports December 1st
Spring Sports April Ist
The number of teams necessary to have a league-recognized championship
or tournament is three.
The tie breaking procedure for seeding of tournaments is as follows: (Adopted
Fall 2009)
1. Win/Loss Record
2. Head to head competition
3. Results against higher seeded teams Do we recognize this? 4. Number drawn/or tournament seeding at the previous conference meeting.
The VIC will use the VHSL practice rule as a guide to the minimal out of season
practice dates. Sundays will be allowed/or participation. (Adopted Fall of 2011)
Miscellaneous Items
I. In the winter of 1988, the league approved expenses for two league
representatives to attend the state basketball seeding meeting each year.
IL A school may only film contests in which their athletes are participating.
Football- see football section regarding film exchange.
III. Legal cases: No information will be released to outside sources unless
there is a court order to do so.
IV. In order to help with communication the league secretary will send two

copies of VIC minutes to each athletic director so they may give one copy
to their executive officer.
V. No smoking at VIC member schools.
VI. When only one league game is required and schools decide to play twice,
the first game played will count.
VII. Reporting Statistics: All member schools must report weekly statistics to
the league secretary. If a member school chooses not to report then fines
will be imposed based on the following:

Subsequently, after five infractions each non-compliance will result in a 20-
dollar fine. The first must be paid within two weeks after the infraction.
VIII A "Coach of the Year" will be selected by ballot for all sports in the
conference.
IX. Admission charges for VIC contests will be:

Students - Three Dollars (Adopted September 2010) $5?
X. Player/Coach ejections: When a player or coach is ejected from an athletic
contest, the following steps are to be followed: 1. The head official reports it to the commissioner of the official's
association.
2. The commissioner and/or athletic directors of the schools involved
report it to the VIC president. 3. The president reports it to the athletic director of the school involved.
4. The athletic director of the school involved reports it to the coach and/or
player involved. 5. The athletic director of the school involved informs the athletic director
of the school to be played next on the schedule.
6. The penalty for a player/coach ejection from a VIC athletic contest
should be a one game suspension for the next athletic contest.

7. A player ejected for fighting must sit out two contests.
8. Appeals go to the VHSL Handbook.
XI. The conference will purchase a trophy for both the VIC Champion and
runner-up team in each sport.
XII. Live scouting of opponents is limited to coaches watching the contest and
taking notes - no filming of games/matches is permitted. Filming of an
opponent's contest will result in at $500 fine with the money going to the
conference.
Fall Sports
The Official Start Date for Fall Sports - August 1.
Football
There will be no divisional play in football. The team with the best VIC winning
percentage will be declared the conference champion. Ties will be settled by
regular season record, head-to-head competition, and finally, a coin flip.
VIC football teams are permitted to opt-out. The opt-out period is for a two-year
cycle. At the end of each cycle the school must announce their intentions for the
next two years on or before October 1. They cannot compete for the VIC
championship and their games with member schools will not count in the
standings. A school choosing to change their status must announce their
intentions by October 1 for the following season. Teams that opt-out are not
eligible to receive any post-season all-conference recognition.
Official league statistics will be compiled by the secretary as follows:
1. Standings
2. Leading Rushers (yards per game)
3. Leading Passer (yards per game)
4. Leading Receivers (yards per game)
5. Leading Pass Interceptions
6. Leading Scorers (points per game)
Film Exchange Policy: For each game throughout the season, each teams is
responsible for providing the two previous and most recent game films (not
including that week's game) to the opposing team. For Example: Teams playing
on week 5 are to exchange film for weeks 3 and 4). If a bye week occurs during
the previous two weeks then the two most recent games are to be exchanged.

For Week 1, each team would be responsible for providing film of the most recent
scrimmage and the final game (most recent game: regular season or playoff) of the
preceding season. If one or both teams did not have a scrimmage then both teams
are responsible for providing the final two game films from (the most recent game;
regular season or playoffs) from the preceding season.
For Week 2, each team is responsible for providing game films for week 1 and the
most recent scrimmage. If one or both teams did not participate in a scrimmage,
then both teams are responsible for providing the game films for week 1 and the
final game (the most recent game: regular season or playoffs) from the preceding
season.
For the first round playoffs, each team is responsible for providing the final two
regular season games.
For the second round of playoffs, each team is responsible for providing game
films from the first round of playoffs and the final regular season game.
**All film exchanges must be completed by Saturday of the week preceding the
scheduled game if the game is to be played on Friday or earlier, and by
Sunday/Monday for games to be played on Saturday.
Game Film Expectations: 1) Taken from the best available height and angle (50 yard line is preferable)
2) Make every effort to get alignments for ALL players on both sides of the ball
3) Exchange tape is a "best possible" VHS copy - NOT the original HUDL?
4) Begin "on" taping as the offensive team breaks the huddle
5) Continuous "on" taping for "no-huddle" offenses and special teams' plays
when appropriate Game Film Expectations (cont.)
6) Scoreboard should be taped at the beginning of each quarter, the end of the
game, and after each score
7) Include EVERY play in the entire game
All-Conference Selections:
*An All-Conference selection meeting will take place the 2nd week after the last
regular season game (the week of the state championship)
*Nominations will be brought to the meeting and voted on by the coaches
*Coaches will use a rating scale of 1-10 for each position player. 1 will be given
to the best player working down to 10. All players at each position will be rated
and the players with the fewest points will be selected All-Conference. (Coaches

use nomination form to complete the ballot, reviews with the Athletic Director,
and faxes to the league representative)
*A coach may not vote for his own players and must submit a complete ballot.
*Coaches will assign the All-Conference team with the following guidelines:
Offense: I QB, 2RBs, SOL, I TE, 2 Receivers
Defense: 4DL, 4LB, 3DB
Special: !PK, IP, 2 return specialists
(Exceptions can be made if a majority of coaches agree)
*A conference Most Valuable Player for offense and defense will be chosen and
will receive a plaque. The plaque is the responsibility of the individual school
Cross Country
The League Championship Meet is to be run over an approximate three mile course. The
date, time, and place are to be determined at the spring meeting. Five members are
needed to count the team in the race. Seven members is the maximum allowed to enter
the race from each school. (clarification: A team may participate in the league
championship meet even if they have not competed in regular season meets)
All-Conference Selections:
At the League Championship, the All-Co11ference will be determined based on the top 10
finishers in the event. (Adopted Spring 2009)
Fall Soccer
Every VIC team will play each school in their conference
Ties in the standings will be settled by:
I. Head to head competition
2. Tie breaking numbers drawn at previous conference meeting
The soccer tournament will be the determining factor for the soccer league champions.
All league games must be made up by the preceding Saturday of the tournament week.
The tournament will consist of top eight teams. The format is single elimination seeded
by typical eight team tournament. All tournament games will be played at higher seed.
In the case of a tie at the end of a regular season game, two five minute overtime periods
will be played, with teams changing ends before the second overtime period. If the game
is still tied, it shall be recorded as a tie. During the VIC Tournament, VHSL Rule 78-4-1
shall apply as follows if a tie exists:
I. Play two five-minute overtime periods, changing ends before the second
overtime period.

2. Play one five-minute sudden victory period. If a tie still exists,
exchange ends of the field and play a second five-minute sudden
victory period. If a tie still exists: 3. Each coach selects five players on his roster to take penalty kicks . Referee
designates which captain will call the coin toss. The team winning the coin toss
has the choice of shooting first or second. Team scoring the greatest number
shall be the winner. If still tied. Repeat #3. Coach may select same 5 as previous kickers. Order
may change. At this point, kicks become sudden victory with each pair of
kickers. If still tied, repeat sudden victory pairs till you have a winner.
Soccer statistics shall be reported as follows:
1. Scores
2. Goal leaders
3. Assist leaders
Scores and statistics should be reported at www.Maxpreps.com by Monday morning.
Soccer is to be included in Rule 27-6-1 in the VHSL Handbook.
All-Conference Selections:
Each participating school shall be eligible to nominate as many players as they would
like. Elections shall take place by ballot. The top .11. players with the highest number
of votes shall be All-Conference. The next 15 players will be named 2nd Team All Conference. Any school that does not have a player recognized on 1st or 2nd Team will
have their first nominee named "Honorable Mention".
An All-tournament team will be determined by the head coaches at the completion of the
tournament based on the following criteria:
Conference Champion (4)
Conference Runner-up (3)
Conference Semi-finalist (2 each)

Winter Sports
The Official Start Date for Winter Sports - November 1.
Wrestling
Each member school will wrestle other member schools once during the regular
season. There will be three super quad meets at separate locations.
The League Championship Tournament date, time, and place will be determined at
the fall meeting.
Beginning in winter 2008-2009, all wrestling teams must subscribe (Adopted Fall
2009) and follow the NWCA weight management program. A wrestler must also
make scratch weight one time before the conference tournament to be eligible to
wrestle at that weight.
All wrestling entries must be given to the host school on the Thursday preceding
the tournament.
The VIC will pay for the medals and plaques for the tournament. The other
expenses of the tournament will be taken from gate receipts with the participating
schools equally sharing any additional expense.
Seeding for the VIC wrestling championship will be done as follows:
1. Common sense - Coach's discussion (Only the one regular season
match will count. Meetings in tournaments or additional matches do not
count.) If a tie exists go to step 2. 2. VIC record at the weight. If a tie exists, go to step 3.
3. Head to head at the weight- last meeting breaks tie regardless if the
meeting was at a tournament or VIC match.
4. Previous VIC champion at the weight
5. Overall VIC record
6. Overall record.
7. Coin Flip
Note: To be seeded, a wrestler must have a minimum of four matches in the
dual meets at the weight he will wrestle for the tournament.

All-Conference Selections:
The tournament winners in each weight class will be named All-Conference. The
runner-up in each weight class will be 2nd Team All-Conference. Medals will be
awarded to the top 3 finishers in each weight class at the meet (Adopted Spring
2009).The host school should send results to the league secretary within 48 hours
of the meet.
Basketball
A conference tournament will be played each season. The tournament will be
played the last full week of February. The format, time, place, and dates will be
determined at the fall meeting.
All schools will compete in the varsity tournament. Only the top four schools will
compete in the junior varsity tournament in each division.
The conference will be divided into two divisions as determined by an appointed
committee. The divisions are set for a one-year period and will be re-evaluated
following the conference tournament. (Adopted Spring 2010)
The top for teams in Division II at the conclusion of the regular season will be
required to schedule the top four Division I schools. Top two DI schools will
host the top two DII schools. The third and fourth place DI schools will travel
to the third and fourth place DII schools (Adopted Spring 2019)
Each team must play all teams in their division twice. These games will determine
final divisional standings. Games with teams in the other division are optional and
do not count in league standings.
Tournament seeding will be done based on final regular season standings.
Ties will be resolved in the following manner:
I. If the two teams played each other two times during the regular season
and one team won both games the winner will be the higher seed.
2. Record among schools involved (if more than two teams).
3. Numbers Drawn from last conference meeting.
Junior Varsity games will be four seven-minute quarters.
Once a JV player plays in five varsity conference games, he is no longer eligible
to play in junior varsity games.

Varsity games will start 20 minutes after the preliminary contest has ended.
The host school must provide warm-up balls for the visiting team.
The home team must provide water and cups for all games.
Basketball statistics:
1. Game scores.
2. Leading scorers (10 ppg or more)
3. Leading rebounders (6 rpg or more)
4. Leaders in assists (5 apg or more)
5. Leader in steals (5 spg or more)
Scores and statistics should be reported at www.Maxpreps.com by Monday
morning.
All-Conference Selections:
Each school will nominate as many as they wish. This list should be turned in by
the winter meeting. The list of nominees will be compiled by the league secretary
and sent to the athletic directors. Each coach will vote for members of the other
teams in their respective division, and not their own players. Coaches will vote by
giving the top player eight (8) points, the next best player seven (7) points, down
to one ( l) point. Eight players will be named 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd
Team All-Conference. Any school that is not represented on the 1st or 2nd Team
will have their first player nominated named "Honorable Mention".
Failure to comply with the aforementioned may result in that school's players not
being eligible for All-Conference selection.
An All-tournament team will be determined by the head coaches at the completion
of the tournament based on the following criteria:

Swimming
The league championship meet will be held prior to the State Independent School Championships. The date, time, and place will be determined at the fall meeting.
Clarification: A team may participate in the league championship meet even if they have not competed in regular season meets.
The VIC will pay for the medals and plaques for the tournament. The other
expenses of the tournament will be taken from gate receipts with the participating
schools equally sharing any additional expense. The host school will provide a
starter and Meet Director.
Schools must be able to enter, and participate, in a minimum of six (6) events to be
eligible for this championship competition.
All events will be timed final. Swimmers will be seeded by entry times submitted
at least 5 days prior to the competition. Entry information will be distributed by
the host school 30 days prior to the competition. Each team shall be permitted a
maximum of four (4) entries in an individual event and one (1) relay event. The
names of the relay swimmers will not be required until the event is called to the
blocks. Relay entry cards will be provided at the meet.
A competitor shall be permitted to enter a maximum of four (4) events, no more
than two (2) of which may be individual events.
The National Federation of State High School Associations High School
Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo Rules Book will apply.

All-Conference Selections:
There will be all conference plaques(medals) presented to event winners and
the highest point total of swimmers for a total of twelve honorees. Relay points
are divided between the team. Medals will be presented to the top three
finishers in each event. The conference swimmer of the year will be decided by
the swimmer who accumulates the most points. (Adopted Spring 2009)
Meet director or host school must send results to the VIC secretary within 48
hours after the meet.
Indoor Track
A conference track meet will be held. The time, date, and place will be set at the fall
meeting.
The VIC will pay for the medals and plaques for the meet. The other expenses of the
meet will be taken from gate receipts with the participating schools equally sharing
any additional expense. The host school will provide a starter and Meet Director.
Only teams will be allowed to participate m the conference meet. A team constitutes
entry in at least eight events.
Only three participants per event and only one relay team per school will be allowed
in the conference meet.
All-Conference Selections:
Medals will be presented to the top three finishers in each event. The conference
athlete of the year will be decided by the athlete who accumulates the most points
at the meet. (Adopted Spring 2009)
The meet director or host school must send the results to the league secretary
within 48 hours after the meet.

Golf
A conference tournament will be played. The format, time, place, and date will be
set at the winter meeting. VIC Tournament will take place on the last Monday in
April.
Clarification: A team may participate in the league championship even if they
have not participated in regular season matches.
Maximum double par scoring will be used on each hole.
Rangefinders are not allowed in the conference tournament or regular season
matches between conference schools. (Adopted Spring 2008)
Women participating in VIC matches or the league championship are allowed to
hit from the women's tees.
All-Conference Selections:
At the League Championship, All-Conference will be determined based on the top
20 finishers. The top ten are first team all-conference and the next ten are second
team all-conference. The medalist of the tournament will be named conference
player of the year.
The host school must send results to the league secretary within 48 hours after the
tournament.

Tennis
Each team will play each opposing school once based on the master schedule.
Matches will consist of six singles and three doubles or five singles and two
doubles depending upon prior agreement between the two schools.
Matches will consist of a 10-game pro-set.
Matches are to be at the scheduled time.
Warm-up: 1. Warm-up for the first matches must be completed before the starting
time.
2. Warm-up for the other matches will be ten minutes for singles and five
minutes for doubles.
The tournament will consist of top eight teams. The format is single elimination
seeded by typical eight team tournament. All tournament games will be played at
higher seed.
Teams will submit their tennis ladder by Sunday evening proceeding the start of the
tournament. (Adopted Spring 2019)
Statistics must be reported to the league secretary each Monday.
The conference will hold a one-day singles tournament during the season. Each
school may send one or two players to the VIC singles tournament. Players will be
seeded based on records and other pertinent information. Site is based on the school
of the previous year's champion. Host school will provide tennis balls, champion
and runner up plaques. Individual players will pay ten dollars per player to
participate. ·
The VIC will supply a traveling plaque that will be housed at the school of the
winning player for the following year. Don’t know it this still exists
All-Conference Selections:
Each participating school shall be eligible to nominate as many as they want. Elections shall take place by ballot. Coaches are to vote for the top six (6) players (6 points to the best player down to 1 point), and cannot vote for their own players. The top six (6) players with the highest number of votes shall be All Conference. The next six (6) players will be named 2nd Team All-Conference. Any school that
does not have a player recognized as I'' or 2nd Team will have their first nominee
named "Honorable Mention". Also, the player who receives the most votes will be named conference player of the year. (Adopted Spring, 2009)

An All-tournament team will be determined by the head coaches at the completion of the tournament based on the following criteria:

Track
A conference track meet will be held. The time, date, and place will be set at the fall meeting.
The VIC will pay for the medals and plaques for the meet. The other expenses of the meet will be taken from gate receipts with the participating schools equally sharing
any additional expense. The host school will provide a starter and Meet Director.
Only teams will be allowed to participate in the conference meet. A team constitutes entry in at least eight events.
Only three participants per event and only one relay team per school will be allowed in the conference meet.
The VIC will include pole vault at the conference meet. Adopted spring 2006
The VIC does recognize the 3200 meter relay.
Entries This what we decided at the spring AD meeting
All teams’ entries should be entered on MileStat the Wednesday prior the
Championship Meet. Teams are limited to a total of 3 entries per event. Teams may
only enter 1 relay team per event. Each athlete competing in a team relay needs to
be entered into MileStat.
Athletes can compete in a maximum of 3 running events including relays. There is
no maximum number of field events that an athlete can compete in as long as
he/she has competed in it in a meet prior to the BRC/VIC Outdoor Track
Championships.

Every VIC team will play each school in their conference once.
Ties in the standings will be settled by:

2. Tie breaking numbers drawn at previous conference meeting
The tournament will consist of top eight teams. The format is single elimination

championship will be played at higher seed. The championship will be played at a
neutral site determined at the winter meeting. (higher seed) (spring 2018)
The league championship will decided on a date set at the winter meeting.
Days for the tournament will be Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. If a game is unable
to be played due to weather after all reasonable measures have been taken, the higher
seed will advance to the next round. If the Friday championship date is unable to be
played, the game will be made up on Saturday. In the event that the championship
game cannot be played the regular season champ will be the conference champ.

A 10-run slaughter rule will be in effect for all VIC contests. Games must be at
least 5 innings or 4 ½ innings if the home team is ahead. Tournament quarter and semi-finals will play 10-run slaughter rule. Finals will
play all 7 innings with no slaughter rule.

A Coach of the Year will be named in any sport in which at least four Conference
schools participate. Voting for Coach of the Year will take place at the end of the
sports' season. All coaches of that sport will vote for Coach of the Year. The
Secretary will collect and count all votes. The announcement of Coach of the
Year and presentation of the plaque will take place at the Conference tournament.
