MY ARTWORK I planned to create my portrait

emphasizing the characteristics of hair, and an eye patch. I thought this would be a challenge, especially creating the eye patch; I was right. I wanted to make the hair extraordinary and ugly, just not hideous. I decided that I would make the hair 2 two different colors, black and gray. For the eye patch, I needed to create a light source to make it as realistic as possible.

As I was using water colored pencils, it was difficult to get the right values I wanted. Right away it was hard to decide how much water to use. This made all the difference. One little mistake can really change your drawing, which I learned the hard way. I was able to fix it though. This took a lot of time doing this on large paper, but I patiently thought it all out and worked slowly to create what I had in mind. Creating these unusual characteristics was very interesting, because I was trying to create a portrait that was ugly-pretty. I am not the best artist, but I think I accomplished my own expectations.
