CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Who calls us to this house of prayer?

All: We hear an urgent voice crying for our presence.

Leader:Where is the sound of this voice lifted up?

All:On the peaks of our joys, on the pathways of our daily life, at the crossroads of our choices, this cry reaches out to us.

Leader:Who is wanting us to listen?

All:Wisdom wants a voice in our life; discernment longs to be heard.

Leader:How shall we listen?

All:With ears open to truth made real by wisdom; with eyes open to beauty made visible by discernment; with delight that we are called by the voice of Gods Holy Spirit.

*OPENING PRAYER

O God of hospitality,

whose generous mercy embraces all people

without hesitation or reservation:

we thank you for your gracious love

and pray that all who enter this sanctuary

will find here the same spirit

of extravagant welcome and abundant care

that we can always find in you;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*THE LORDS PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever. Amen.

*GLORIA PATRI

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning,

is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSONMatthew 9: 9-13

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, Follow me. And Matthew got up and followed him. And as he sat at dinnerin the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and were sittingwith him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners? But when he heard this, he said, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.Go and learn what this means, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.

SCRIPTURE LESSONMatthew 9:18-26

While Jesus was saying these things to them, suddenly a leader of the synagoguecame in and knelt before him, saying, My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live. And Jesus got up and followed him, with his disciples. Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well.Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well. And instantly the woman was made well. When Jesus came to the leaders house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,he said, Go away; for the girl is not dead but sleeping. And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.And the report of this spread throughout that district.

CHURCH PRAYER

Our Heavenly Father, shed forth thy blessed spirit upon all our lives. Make each one of us an instrument in thy hands for good. Purify our hearts, strengthen our minds and bodies, fill us with Christian love. Let no pride, no self-conceit, no rivalry, no ill-will ever spring up among us. Make us earnest and true, wise and prudent, giving no just cause for offense and may thy holy peace rest upon us this day and every day throughout the coming week, sweetening our trials, cheering us in our work, and keeping us faithful to the end, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ROUND HILL COMMUNITY CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT

We, the members of the Round Hill Community Church, a self-governing, non-denominational body, seek to foster a community of faith where people of all ages and backgrounds pursue spiritual growth; where God is worshipped in Word and praised in music; where friends are made and hurts are healed. We seek to be a community where individuals commit their time and resources to education, fellowship, and to helping those in need among our Church family and in the broader world. We are a church where faith, hope, justice and love are valued, and above all, Jesus is Lord.

ROUND HILL COMMUNITY CHURCH CREED

I believe in God, the one universal Father of all mankind, revealed supremely in Jesus Christ, our Lord, and present with us to guide, comfort and inspire in the Holy Spirit. I believe in the Kingdom of God; and in the mission of the Christian Church to proclaim the Gospel to all the world, exalting the worship of the Lord our God, and laboring for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of righteousness, the reign of peace, and the realization of human brotherhood. United in Christian love, we pray and labor for the coming of the Kingdom, the triumph of righteousness and the life everlasting. Amen.

Music: Leslies Notes - John Rutter's Requiem was first performed on October 13, 1985 at Lovers' Lane United Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas (Director of Music: Allen Pote) by the Sanctuary Choir and orchestra.
