After filling in the necessary details and attaching additional documents if any (total file size not to exceed 3MB), you may email the form to dbsfoundation@dbs.com before 31st March 2018, 2359hrs (Singapore time). Applications must be filed only in .doc and/or .pdf.

DBS Foundation grants are intended for registered social enterprises operating in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Taiwan. DBS Foundation does not support non-governmental organisations (NGOs), philanthropy-model charities, religious organisations for religious purposes, general fundraising campaigns, entities on bank caution list, student projects and individual pursuits.

Acknowledgements will be sent within 5 working days from date of receipt of application.

What is a Social Enterprise?Social enterprises are businesses that have a social mission at their core and use sustainable commercial models to achieve this social mission. Their primary objective is to achieve positive social, cultural, community economic and/or environmental outcomes. They sustain themselves with earned revenue, with no reliance on philanthropic giving for their operations.

Traditional commercial models focus on delivering profits to shareholders, and may contribute a portion of excess profits for social good; social enterprises focus on centering their operating models around achieving their social mission. Profits generated are committed towards strengthening their ability to create positive social impact and to clearly demonstrate such impact with measurement and reporting.

Grants offered by DBS Foundation Each entity may only submit one entry for either grant type during the Call for Proposal. Entities or individuals with multiple entries will be disqualified.All grants will be offered in SGD. The grant is not to be used for ongoing liquidity needs, operating funds, or guarantor function.

Prototype Grant – up to SGD50,000 For newly registered social enterprises with innovative and scalable ideas that address relevant social problems. Entities should be registered for less than 2 years as of 1 st Jan 2018. The idea is ready to be developed into a working prototype. This grant is expected to help the social enterprises get to market.

Organisational Grant – up to SGD250,000 Targeted at revenue generating social enterprises that have been registered and in operations for between 2 to 4 years as of 1st Jan 2018. This grant is aimed to support these more established social enterprises scale up business capacity, innovation capabilities, extend geographical reach and/or expand social impact.

DBS Foundation Social Enterprise Grant Programme 2018 Before you begin…

You will require about 2 hours to complete the form. By having the following information on hand, it will significantly reduce the time required to fill in the form:

1. Company registration number 2. Empirical research evidence of social problem to be addressed and the market

gap for a solution3. Market competition analysis on what makes the company differentiated against

what is currently available in the market 4. Roadmaps of company development and resources required for company growth

along with social impact 5. Financial projections and past financial records6. Track record of company (and the founders) in growing the business and social

impact.

We strongly encourage you to submit your application as early as possible instead of waiting till the last minute. This provides buffer time for you to react should there be technical errors or any other issues with your application.

Do note that: Entries will be postmarked electronically according to DBSF’s email system, which is

based on Singapore time zone (UTC +8). DBSF accepts no responsibility for any entries not received for any reason during the Call for Proposal. Incomplete, illegible, corrupted, unrecognisable file formats, misdirected, lost or untimely entries will be void, disqualified and not be processed.

Each entity may only submit one entry for either grant type during the Call for Proposal. Entities or individuals with multiple entries will be disqualified.

Shortlisted applicants must be prepared to present their proposed 24-month milestones for the grant support to the local evaluation panel and final regional evaluation panel. The awarding of the grant is strictly based on what was proposed at time of application and evaluation. DBSF reserves the right to not proceed with the awarding of the grant if the proposed use of the grant changes thereafter.

The regional evaluation panel will gather in Singapore for the final round of evaluations to be conducted in English. In the event that the applicant/presenter is be unable to converse in English, DBSF will make best attempts to assist in interpreting the pitch, and question and answer session. Applicants who are not based in Singapore may consider participating in the evaluation pitch in person at their own cost. Otherwise, the pitch will be conducted via video or telephone conference from a local DBS Bank office. No travel reimbursements will be provided.

Due to high correspondence volume, we seek your understanding to refrain from requesting for constant updates on application status. All applicants will receive updates by August 2018 on the results, regardless of the outcome.
