Web Page Maintenance and ChangesThe webpage is hosted by Word Press and was build by Mark Wiard. He is the person to go to if you need training or just some help installing new features.

The maintenance and changing of pages is done in Word Press. The link is http://www.chaffee-hhs.org/hhs/wp-login.php

You would have to contact Mark Wiard to get the user name changed but it really doesn’t matter as there is no personal account information.

After you log-in you will see this page.

It will look the same in Internet explorer as it does in Firefox.

To get to the individual pages for editing click on the “Pages” link in the left hand menu. The screen will now show a listing of all DHS and public health pages.

The hierarchy of pages is not easily discerned from the layout so pay close attention to the “-“ (Dashes) in front of the page names.

“ “ (no Dash) is a main page- In the screen shot above this would mean that “Chaffee County Public Health” is a main page.

“-“ (single dash) is a subpage that is part of the main page above it in the list. In the screen shot above “community resources” and “emergency preparedness” are nested pages under “Chaffee County Public Health”.

“- -“ (two dashes) is a subpage under the first subpage. As is “City, County, Agency list” under “community Resources”.

How to change a page:

1. Chose a page to change (click on “emergency preparedness”). Your screen should lkk like this.

2. Any text can be changed by clicking in the window and changing the text. 3. Changes will not be saved to the page and “published” until the blue “update” button is

clicked.

If you would like to insert a photo or link to a document do the following.

1. Click on the “add an image” icon.

2. Click on “select files” at the next screen.

3. Change the “title” to reflect what you want the text to on the page (you can change this later, so don’t worry).

4. Click “Insert into Post”

Other things:

You can mess around in Word Press quite a bit because it saves previous versions of the entire site and you can simply revert to a previous version is thins go awry. There is surprisingly little to be changed in the way of fonts and style (certainly a bummer).

Check out the “appearance” section on the left and you will see “Menus” listed there. This is where the static left hand menu is changed. Once again, mess around in here and you will get the hang of it quickly.

New pages: Adding a new page is very easy.

1. Under the pages menu on the left Click on “Add New”.2. Enter the title that you want.

a. Fill in the text box as you would like to see itb. Add photos or links to documents with the

process above.3. Over on the right hand menu is the “page Attributes”

box.4. Use the drop down menu to set which page this is

going to be a subpage of.5. Under the “default Template” drop-down list choose

“CC-Public Health”.6. Click the blue “publish” button and you are nearly

done.7. Copy the text under the title of the page that has the

address of your new page.

8. Use this text to insert a link in another page or create a menu addition for your new page.
