More information

Brand: Forever 21Cost: Originally $19.99 but I only paid $3 as it was on sale (how in the world did $3 pay for its production???)Made in the USA with imported materials.

On the forever 21 website it says that products are shipped by sea in order to cut down on emissions

But I know that Forever 21 clothes easily rip, and are not meant to wear for more then a season. It advertises cheep clothes-and they are, so people flock to the stores in droves, the problem is that after a season, the clothes are ready for the landfill and you have to buy more.

I know that the cost of cheep clothing is high… the production goes up so the prices can go down, and the clothing goes out of style almost as soon as it reaches the shelves. (Over-Dressed: The shockingly high cost of cheep fashion by. Elizabeth L. Cline is a very good resource about this topic)

Forever 21 buys small amounts of every kind of clothing- in order to teach people that if they don’t buy it now, it might be gone tomorrow. This can be detrimental to the environment because it teaches people to buy now, buy soon, and buy quickly without thinking.

Forever 21 has been sued for mistreatment of workers in sweatshops around the world. People in a sweatshop condition probably have no other choice, and forcing them to work in inhumane conditions and for unfair wages is just cruel because some of these people can just not afford to rebel.

Brand: begoodCost: $38.00 more expensive probably because it actually pays for productionMade in the USAAt the bottom of the page below the product it clearly says “Buy only what you need. If you make purchases, make them SUSTAINABLE + ECO FRIENDLY + FAIR TRADE + FASHION.”

This shirt is just as cute, and it is so much more sustainable… more people need to know about clothing’s effect on the environment
