Charism (1000 words)Our Congregation CMC as the first indegenous Pontific Congregation in the Syro-Malabar Major Archiepiscopal Church.Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara is the founder of the Congregation . He was the leader of the people of God of his time, and was a man of Prayer. He was irresistably drawn towards the Eucharistic Lord who revealed His ways to him. In response to the Lord he found delight in spending himself for the people around him. He was a contemplative out in the world, who blended contemplation and action in right measure, the one leading to the other in mutual enrichment.As he remained in rapt attention before the Blessed Sacrament wirh a listening heart , God revealed His ways for the growth and development of the people of God. He realised the importance of the role of women in the Christian formation of families and uplift of society in general.We admire Father Leopold Beccaro, a great Italian Carmelite Missionary as the co-founder of our Congregation.He was a man of deep prayer and zealous action. From the beginning he was with Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara and he nourished with his life-blood the growing seed of Carmel in Kerala.Imbibing the charism of our founders, we grow into the fulness of perfect Eternal love trusting in the providential love of God(Abba Experience) , experiencing the redeeming love of Our Lord Jesus Christ, listening to the voice of the indwelling Spirit, fulfilling the will of God like Mary Our Mother, and dedicating ourselves for the Christian formation of the people of God, especially women and children.

We Share the God experience of our founders which consists of Abba experience, constant awareness of the indwelling presence, faith and absolute trust in the providential care, amd total surrender to seek and do God’s will always in humility and inner joy.The zeal of Elias , the fiery prophet of Carmel ad the constant listening of our mother St. Therese of Avila to the indwelling Guest and her fervour in living as a true daughter of the Church have been transmitted to us by our founders.Rooted in the Indian Culture, nourished by the richness of Indian Spirituality , which includes silence, solitude, asceticism and deep meditation . As we belong to the Syro-Malabar Church our liturgical and spiritual richness are also highly rooted in St. Thomas Christians. We are much inspired by the age old spititual wisdom of Eastern Christian monasticism.

To achieve the Perfect Eternal Love and lead all the people of God to the experience of this divine love is the goal of our apostolic activities. Let this be the inner thrust of all our apostolic activities.The contemplative and apostolic aspects of our charism are depicted in our motto: Remain united to Me in contemplation and consecrated to Me in action. (Cf. Jn. 15:5)

( Abba Experience ), experiencing the redeeming love of Our Lord Jesus Christ , listening to the voice of the Indwelling Sprit, fulfilling the will of God like Mary Our Mother, and dedicating ourselves for the Christian formation of the people of God, especially women and children. “In all our activities we have only one goal: to grow in the Perfect Eternal Love and lead all the people of God to the experience of this divine love.’’ Let this be the inner thrust of all our apostolic activities. We have to pool all our resources and channel these to infuse new vigour and vitality into the Church and the world at large. The contemplative and apostolic aspects of our charism are depicted in our motto : Remain united to Me in contemplation and consecrated to Me in action.( Cf.Jn.15 : 5 ) The right blending of contemplation and action is the spirit of our congregation. Our minds should flow towards the Lord incessantly in an undivided gaze of love. This supreme love for God is realized and fostered through listening and responding to His Word in absolute faith by which we adhere totally in mind and heart to Him Who is the only source and centre of all that we are and all that we have. The way of selfless action would flow from supreme love and has to be sustained, nurtured and enrichment by it. It will prompt us to offer all action whether in the material or spiritual order as a gift of worship service and sacrifice to the Lord leaving the fruits thereof entirely to Him to be rightfully enjoyed by all His children alike. Every work done in a spirit of devoted service and selfless sacrifice achieves in us true liberation from self and transforms us into authentic women of the Church, fully available to God and His children. Work thus becomes sacrificial and sacred, a pure expression of our love for God and His children, a collaboration with the Eternal Designer, who with His sacrificial self – gift, has worked out the redemption of fallen humanity. Such constant effort to focus the mind on God unifies all our energies and brings integration and harmony in life. Our lifestyle should project this characteristic in a very striking manner by which we are to be identified in the Church as C.M.C. sisters. Our congregation has its place in the Church only to the extent of our fidelity to this charism.
