Gathering Hymn…....A Mighty Fortress Is Our God……#504

A mighty fortress is our God, a sword and shield victorious; he breaks the cruel oppressor’s rod and wins salvation glorious. The old satanic foe has sworn to work us woe! With craft and dreadful might he arms himself to fight. On earth he has no equal.

No strength of ours can match his might! We would be lost, rejected. But now a champion comes to fight, whom God himself elected. You ask who this may be? The Lord of hosts is he! Christ Jesus, mighty Lord, God’s only Son, adored. He holds the field victorious.

Though hordes of devils fill the land all threatening to devour us, we tremble not, unmoved we stand; they cannot over pow’r us. Let this world’s tyrant rage; in battle we’ll engage! His might is doomed

to fail; God’s judgment must prevail! One little word subdues him.

God’s Word forever shall abide, no thanks to foes, who fear it; for God himself fights by our side with weapons of the Spirit. Were they to take our house, goods, honor, child, or spouse, though life be wrenched away, they cannot win the day. The kingdom’s ours forever!

Greeting P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you.

Prayer of the Day Compassionate God, you have assured the human family of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Deliver us from the death of sin, and raise us to new life in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

First Reading………..……………..….…………...1 Kings 17:17-24 C: Thanks be to God. Psalm……………….……….……………….…………….…..Psalm 301I will exalt you, O LORD, because you have lift- | ed me up and have not let my enemies triumph | over me. 2O LORD my God, I cried | out to you, and you restored | me to health. 3You brought me up, O LORD, | from the dead; you restored my life as I was going down | to the grave. 4Sing praise to the LORD, | all you faithful; give thanks in ho- | ly remembrance. 5God’s wrath is short; God’s favor | lasts a lifetime. Weeping spends the night, but joy comes | in the morning. 6While I felt se- | cure, I said, “I shall never | be disturbed. 7You, LORD, with your favor, made me as strong | as the mountains.” Then you hid your face, and I was | filled with fear. 8I cried to | you, O LORD; I pleaded with | my Lord, saying, 9“What profit is there in my blood, if I go down | to the pit? Will the dust praise you or de- | clare your faithfulness? 10Hear, O LORD, and have mer- | cy upon me; O LORD, | be my helper.” 11You have turned my wailing |

into dancing; you have put off my sackcloth and clothed | me with joy. 12Therefore my heart sings to you | without ceasing; O LORD my God, I will give you | thanks forever.

Second Reading…………….………………..….Galatians 1:11-24 C: Thanks be to God.

Gospel Acclamation C: Alleluia. Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia.

Gospel………………………….………….…..……….....Luke 7:11-17 C: Praise to you, O Christ.

Hymn of the Day………..Christ, Be Our Light…….……..#715

Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see.

Refrain: Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light! Shine in your church gathered today. Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has pow’r to save us. Make us your living voice. Refrain.

Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, shared until all are fed. Refrain.

Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, walls made of living stone. Refrain.

Many the gifts, many the people, many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, signs of your kingdom come. Refrain.

Apostles Creed……….…….……………..…………………Page 105

Lord, I lift your name on high; Lord, I love to sing your praises. I’m so glad you’re in my life, I’m so glad you came to save us. You came from heaven to earth to show the way, from the earth to the cross, my debt to pay, from the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky; Lord, I lift your name on high.

Offering Prayer P: God of mercy and grace, the eyes of all wait upon you, and you open your hand in blessing. Fill us with good things at your table, that we may come to the help of

all in need, through Jesus Christ, our redeemer and Lord. C: Amen.

Holy Communion

We believe this is the Lord’s meal offered to the family of the faith. All are welcome to share in this meal we call Holy Communion. We believe Christ is present with us in this meal. Gluten free wafers and non-alcoholic wine may be requested from the server. If you are unable to come forward, let an usher know and communion will be brought to you. You are invited to come forward to receive a blessing if you choose not to receive communion.

Communion Hymn 1.….Let Us Break Bread Together….#471

Let us break bread together on our knees; let us break bread together on our knees.

Refrain: When I fall on my knees, with my face to the rising sun, O Lord, have mercy on me.

Let us drink wine together on our knees; let us drink wine together on our knees. Refrain.

Let us praise God together on our knees; let us praise God together on our knees. Refrain.

Communion Hymn 2….We Come To The Hungry Feast..#479

We come to the hungry feast hungry for a word of peace. To hungry hearts unsatisfied the love of God is not denied. We come, we come to the hungry feast.

We come to the hungry feast hungry for a world released from hungry fold of every kind, the poor in body, poor in mind. We come, we come to the hungry feast.

We come to the hungry feast hungry that the hunger cease, and knowing, though we eat our fill, the hunger will stay with us; still we come, we come to the hungry feast.

Communion Prayer P: O God, as a mother comforts her child, so you comfort your people carrying us in your arms and satisfying us with this food and drink, the body and blood of Christ. Send us now as your disciples, announcing peace and proclaiming that the reign of God has come near; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. C: Amen.

Blessing P: The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord’s face shine upon you with grace and mercy. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace. C: Amen.

Sending Hymn…………….On Our Way Rejoicing…………#537

On our way rejoicing gladly let us go. Christ our Lord has conquered; vanquished is the foe. Christ without, our safety; Christ within, our joy; who, if we be faithful, can our hope destroy? Refrain: On our way rejoicing; as we forward move, hearken to our praises, O blest God of love!

Unto God the Father joyful songs we sing; unto God the Savior thankful hearts we bring; unto God the Spirit bow we and adore; on our way rejoicing now and ever more. Refrain. P: Go in peace. Share God’s love with all! C: Thanks be to God!
