One of the things I enjoy most about Information Builders Magazine is how it presents enlightening articles on the various ways our customers use our solutions – particularly our WebFOCUS BI and analytics platform. In this issue, we profile companies such as Tata Steel, Center for Autism and Related Disorders, and Nordic Investment Bank. Each of these organizations has leveraged WebFOCUS in unique and innovative ways. For example, Tata Steel built a system called RAPID to analyze pending orders, and another system to help sequence the loading of heavy steel coils on the trains that carry them. As Tata senior executive Kevin van Kessel states, “With WebFOCUS, we do a lot more than just reporting and analytics. We used it to build a fully functioning material requirements planning system.” From Tata’s multi-million dollar business, we move on to the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD). This organization is using a version of WebFOCUS, called Business User Edition, to do what I counted as four applications, with a goal to place some of them at more than 100 CARD clinics nationwide. Finally, WebFOCUS is vital to Nordic Investment Bank’s information management and compliance initiatives. It depends on “Information Builders technology to provide insights to lending, finance, accounting, risk management, treasury, and other parts of the organization.” While I have always felt pride in this innovative software that we invented, the common thread presented in this issue of Information Builders Magazine has led me to truly see the multi- faceted and comprehensive value WebFOCUS has to offer throughout an organization. And looking at our technology in different ways is what this magazine is all about. The Wide World of WebFOCUS Gerald D.
