Instantaneous frequency bands of TX: M900:15MHz, M1800:15MHz. That means the frequency interval of any two frequency in a RF channel must be not more than15MHz. Instantaneous bandwidth of RX is 25MHz.

Power sharing doesn’t support concentric cell, Co-BCCH, IBCA, RAN sharing while static power can support these functions.

If GRFU support power sharing, DTX, Power control III, intra cell handover must be open.

1. I. INRODUCTION

1.1 PURPOSE:

The purpose of this document is to prevent loss of data and to make periodic backups of VTL Network Elements to ensure the availability of data in case of a system failure, accidental file deletion, data getting corrupted or disaster taking place. The rules / policy are in place to protect the user’s and company’s data.

The backup and restore functions comprise the following: a) Taking System backup (software) of VTL Network Elements b) Taking backup of Databases of Network Elements c) Restore the software on the Network elements d) Taking BSC Backupe) Taking backup of Transaction & Command Logs

Taking backup of the software and databases of a Network Element ensures that a functional copy of the software is maintained so that the backup copy can be used to reload into the system in the event of a serious problem with the NE’s software or hardware during day to day operation.

If such a situation occurs, it is vital to have a fault free dump with the latest

possible data

1.2 SCOPE:This policy covers protection of any data that belongs to VTL and applies to all

users of information assets and facilities on behalf of VTL.

1.2.1 Scope of Work

To ensure that the data is backed up properly for that restoration test should be in place as per the Preventive Maintenance policy. To ensure that the Backup Drives are properly labeled.Weekly reporting about the backup taken as per schedule for the entire week Backup of all NEs should be taken on as per the schedule and should be stored with proper label and maintained. Hard logbook of Backup History should be maintained at NOC. Backup should be taken daily basis.

1.2.2 On-Site & Off-Site

Back up data should be kept onsite and offsite to recover from any disaster.

Abis interface An interface between the BSC and the BTS.

Antenna A device that converts the electromagnetic energy. It is used to radiate andCollect radio waves. In transmission, it converts the high-frequency current toThe electromagnetic wave; in reception, it converts the electromagnetic wave toThe high-frequency current.

BBaseband Baseband is a form of modulation in which the information is applied directly tothe physical transmission medium.

BSS Base station system. The BSS system consists of the BSCs and the BTSs. TheBSS is controlled by the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) and communicatesWith the MS in the radio coverage area.

BTS Base transceiver station. The mobile communications system consists of theMS, BSS, and NSS. The BSS consists of the BTS and the base stationController (BSC).

CCarrier A sine wave whose bandwidth is much higher than the signal bandwidth. Thecarrier is identified by amplitude, frequency, and phase.

DDouble-transceiver A mode in which a board provides two TRXs.

E

EDGE Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution. A data-enhanced mobile technologyBased on the GSM/GPRS network. It is also called the 2.75 generationTechnology. As a high-speed mobile data standard that remarkably improvesthe efficiency of the GPRS channel encoding, EDGE allows the data rate up to384 kbit/s; thus fully meeting the broadband requirements of radio multi-mediaApplications in the future.

FFour-way receive diversityA technology in which signals are received in four routes, which can gain moreUplink diversity gain than the main diversity.

G

GPRS General Packet Radio Service. A new mobile data service available to almost

every GSM system. It is a connectivity solution based on Internet Protocols thatsupports a wide range of end-to-end and WAN applications. GPRS is atechnology between the second (2G) and third (3G) generations of mobiletelephony.

GSM The Global System for Mobile Communications is originally developed as apan-European standard for digital mobile telephony. GSM has become theworld's most widely used mobile system. It covers GSM900, DCS1800, andPCS1900 with the data rate 9.6 kbit/s.

HHandoverOne of the important technologies in the radio communications that hands overan ongoing call from one radio channel to another to maintain the trafficconnection. The handover can be implemented within a cell or in different cells.

RReceive diversityThe most common type of diversity, where a mobile device uses two physicallyseparate antennas to combine signals from the two antennas to reduce theimpact of spatial variations in signal strength and thus increase the averagedata rate available - sometimes dramatically.

SSDH Synchronous Digital Hierarchy. A communication transmission mechanismdefined by the ITU-T. It is derived from the Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy(PDH).

TTMA Tower Mounted Amplifier. A low noise amplifier installed on the antenna.

Transmit diversity A method to realize the multi-path which optimizes the downlink

Signals.

TRX Transceiver. An entity that serves up to eight TCHFs in full-duplex mode. If thelow-speed FH is not used, a TRX serves one RF carrier.

U

Um interface Also called radio interface. A standard interface between the MS and the

BSS.
