• May 11th, 1727, Johann Heinrich discovered silver nitrate.

• The first camera was made on January, 1826.

• The first permanent picture was taken from obscura in 1826.

1878

• British photographer Eadweard Muybridge takes the first successful photographs of motion, showing how people and animals move in 1878.

1888

• Etienne Marey in France develops a camera, shaped like a gun, that can take twelve pictures per second in 1888.

1889

• Thomas Edison and W.K. Dickson develop the Kinetoscope, a peep-show device in which film is moved past a light.

1893

• Edison constructs the first motion picture studio in New Jersey.

1895

• In Paris, they present the first commercial exhibition of projected motion pictures by two French brothers that patented a combination of a movie camera and projector.

1905

• Harry Davis opens the first nickelodeon in Pittsburgh.

• The first animated cartoon is produced.
