“VictoriousSpirit Filled Life”
Romans 8:1-39 & Selected
Cross Creek Community Church, Pastor Dave Martin – August 16, 2015
1. TRUTH – Believers are “Set Free” in Jesus Christ!
Romans 8:1-3 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2
because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For
what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending
his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,
2. CHOICES – Obey Flesh OR Spirit… Fought in our minds
Romans 8:5-8 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature
desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's
law, nor can it do so. 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

3. VICTORY – Indwelling Presence of God the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:12-15 12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live
according to it. 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to
death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14
because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that
makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
God is for us…

Living your Victorious Spirit Filled Life!
Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither
the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Are you convinced?
What a Savior!Romans 8:32-34 32 He who did not
spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along
with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to
life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Let’s Celebrate the Lord’s Supper!
1 Corinthians 11:24-25 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it
and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of
me." 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."
