WelcomeThe City of Greater Bendigo is proud to support the 2016 Victorian Seniors Festival and celebrate and recognise the contribution of older Australians to our community.

This year’s festival has something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a history buff, a music or dance lover or you prefer sports or socialising over afternoon tea, this year’s festival program has you covered!

A highlight of this year’s program is the opening event, Athol Guy: The Seekers Story on at the Capital on October 3. Other highlights include a tour of Bendigo’s cemeteries, a screening of That Sugar Film, a cooking masterclass, a seniors night at the Bendigo Harness Club and special pop up tours of the Bendigo Art Gallery. Various concerts, come and try sports days, open days as well as walking tours of central Bendigo will be sure to catch your interest.

The events are designed to provide you with an opportunity to learn something new, meet like-minded people and step outside of your comfort zone.

We hope you enjoy the festival.

Breast screening NOW covers women up to 74

The risk of breast cancer increases with age. That’s why the age group of women invited for free breast screening has now changed to include women up to 74.

Early detection saves lives. If you’re aged 50-74 you should be screened every two years.

If you’re over 75, talk to your doctor to find out if breast screening is right for you.

Book at breastscreen.org.au or call 13 20 50.

Your local clinic is at Bendigo BreastScreen, 375 Barnard Street, Bendigo, 3550

Bowel cancer screening every 2 years could save your life

Most people should complete a bowel cancer screening test every two years from the age of 50.

• Screening gives you the best chance of survival

• Don’t delay – speak to your GP about bowel cancer screening

• The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program sends free screening kits to eligible people aged 50-74. If you receive a kit in the mail, please use it.
