Teacher Planning and Management

Document

Click the documents below to help you understand the context of this exemplary learning project:

Background & Planning: The planning of this project was cross curricular, and cross classes as well. The documents below explain this in more detail. In essence, the pupils extended their studies of the Victorian period, by researching songs and music from the period. In groups, they then worked on aspects of creating a CD for sale, including cover, artwork, marketing, making a video of the band rehearsing, a slideshow for display at a Parents and Friends Cheese and Wine evening, a marketing PowerPoint, and posters. Pupils also manned the stalls, undertook cash handling, management, and storage of the CDs.

Assessment and Standards

Authentic Assessment

The document below shows how the project was planned. Ultimately, the project was assessed as successful by the success of the product, and whether or not a profit was finally made. Proceeds or any profits were to be given to charity. At the time of submitting this VCT, the final invoice had yet to be received from the audio recording company, so a final total of profits (charitable donation) was unavailable for this reason.

Planning of the project was tied to the new Scottish Curriculum for Excellence standards, and was successful in meeting all of the objectives within the four competencies.

Stoneyhill Primary School

The school was built originally in 1996, and

extended in 2006.

Stoneyhill Primary School is a non-denominational primary school in the West side of Musselburgh, East Lothian.

Musselburgh is the biggest settlement in East Lothian. It is an easy commute to the city of Edinburgh. The school has 11 classes and a nursery for 3 to 4 year old children. The roll is around 300, so there are a number of straight year stages, plus some classes which are composited from two year stages.
