  • Chobe is particularly well known for its large herds of elephant and buffalo, as well as the two ante- lope that cannot be encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the puku and Chobe bushbuck. Chobe offers both dry savannah and oodplains. Dense teak woodland provides thick cover in the north-eastern parts of the reserve. Watching the elephant families drink and bathe in the river is an un- forgettable sight, all the more impressive when herds of buffalo, rafts of hippo and gigantic Nile croco- diles are part of the scene. Lion and spotted hyena are frequently seen on the oodplains, where red lechwe, puku, zebra, sable and roan come out to graze. Well-used animal trails meander between ve ensuite safari tents at Chobe Under Canvas, positioned at exclusive campsites in the northern reaches of the park, within driving distance of the Chobe River. Each canvas tent boasts a comfortable double bed, as well as an ensuite bathroom with ush w.c and steaming hot bucket shower, with water delivered on request. • After the morning game drive and breakfast a road transfer will bring you to Kasane Airport for your light aircraft ight to San- dibe, your rst camp in the Okavango Delta. A maze of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and over- grown islands teeming with wildlife, Botswanas Okavango Delta lies like a sparkling jewel at the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Known as the river that never nds the sea, the Deltas crystal- clear channels spread over the thirstlands of the Kalahari with their papyrus-fringed banks and fertile oating islands. Adapted for a life in and out of water, the elegant red lechwe and shy sita- tunga are found in this watery wilderness. DAY 6,7: OKAVANGO DELTA 5
  • Lion, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog share the oodplains with large herds of elephant and buffalo. Hippo inhabit the deeper channels and lagoons, while honey badgers can be seen in broad daylight. Tall termite mounds are homes for families of dwarf and banded mongoose. Tucked away beneath a cool forest canopy of wild palms and gnarled g trees, Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge looks out onto the Delta through a maze of brilliant green papyrus. Situated on a private concession, Sandibe has exclusive traversing rights over 22 500 hectares (55 600 acres) of wildlife land adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. Behind the lodge, golden-grasses oodplains stretch into the distance, framed by lush palm islands and the spires of giant termite mounds. The beautiful organic architecture of the thatched lodge blends seamlessly with one of Africas most breathtaking landscapes. Tread in the footprints of elephants on ancient game paths that lead between the eight guest cot- tages. Each thatched ensuite cottage features an open-air shower, allowing guests to feel part of the forest. Walls are airy screens, admitting the refreshing Okavango breezes, and the cottages are fur- nished in a fusion of ochre and tactile textures, from leather and silk to rough-hewn wood. Private decks are idyllic vantage points onto a birdwatchers paradise. Tall overarching trees echo the soar- ing roofs of the guest sitting and dining area, while quiet decks offer views across the wetlands and savannah grasslands. The shaded swimming pool is a refreshing oasis for a cooling dip. At night a constellation of candles illuminates the boma with its al fresco banquet and ne wines from the charcoal-cooled cellar. Alternatively, private decks provide a romantic setting for an intimate dinner for two. Enjoy 2 nights at Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge including accommodation, three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, refreshments on game drives, laundry, safari activities, 1-hour nature walks accom- panied by experienced armed trackers (subject to availability), emergency medical evacuation insur- ance, VAT, transfers to and from the lodge airstrip and park fees.
