Vice President’s Message
Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘It will be happier’ — Alfred Lord Tennyson
As I write this message, President Kelly Milukas and her family are on holiday taking in the beauty and magic of Paris. Like the sights and sounds of that beautiful city, our own Providence Art Club was aglow with the brilliance of color and light, celebration and merriment. Members and their guests came out to make this one of our best years yet for holiday events. Our General Manager ,Seb Borges, will report on this in February once all of the numbers are in.
As we bring in 2019, we continue with old traditions while creating a strong path forward as we realize the responsibilities that we all carry as stewards of our great Club. We do this by maintaining a vision of collaboration and inclusivity with others while focusing on the role of governance, financial stability and preservation of our four historic buildings.
With a full calendar of classes, workshops and events, the Art Club has rolled out the welcome mat for the new year and for those who walk through our big green door.
With best wishes for a Happy and Creative New Year to you and yours!
Sincerely,
Nancy Gaucher-Thomas Vice President Providence Art Club

New Classroom LightingAll good things come to those who wait...
We were so happy to learn that the new classroom lighting was enroute to PAC for its January installation until we learned the vessel containing our precious lighting is still at sea. “Anything worth having, is worth waiting for” or so they say.
The new $60,000 system includes lights easily adjusted for varying situations and an artist’s desired result. A light-blocking shade will be installed over the large window that will help attain the lighting effect appropriate for any given program.
We will keep you apprised of the new date of installation.

Try Egg Tempera Painting
Since medieval times artists have chosen egg tempera for its permanence and luminosity. Although an ancient technique, this fascinating medium is really very simple and economical. Kathy Hodge will show how to make tempera paint using egg yolk and dry pigments or water-colors, and we will try it out on small panels. Bring a reference photo or sketch if you like, all other materials are supplied. Angell’s Lane Bar Menu will be available from 3-8pm to enjoy before or during class.
Invite a friend to join you for this fun class! Fee: $15 for members & guests. Reservations are not required, but if you plan to attend, please let Angel know at: [email protected] or call her at 401-331-1114 ext. 16
