Vibeke specialises in unique, hand-cut and stitched leather appliqués which embellish jumpers and cardigans, lovingly knitted by hand in the UK in luxurious brushed mohair.

After international success in the 1980s, Vibeke was featured in publications such as British Vogue, Tatler and Harper’s Bazaar. Collections were also exported to boutiques and department stores across Europe, America and the Far East.

For 2014, Vibeke has returned with a new collection: Satanic Majesties Request. This collection is formed of 14 individual designs, available as both jumpers and cardigans in shades of black, graphite, royal purple and vibrant fuchsia. Inspired by ‘the other side’, this collection of skulls, crosses and dead flowers takes its name from the dark side of rock ‘n’ roll. For those not brave enough to cross that line, an injection of flower power is brightly scattered across the collection in vibrant colours to bring life to the occult. Glamorous yet wearable. Bold yet feminine. Distinctively new, yet with a nostalgic nod to their vintage roots; these are not ephemeral fashion items, rather life-long pieces to be carefully kept and treasured.

Established in London in 1983 by Danish-born designer Janne Vibeke Hansen, Vibeke

very quickly caught the attention of the fashion press. The label featured on the pages of

Vogue, Tatler and other leading titles.

What began as a simple idea to utilise leftover pieces of leather inspired Vibeke’s first

collection, influenced by Hansen’s adoration of New Romanticism and rock ‘n’ roll.

Throughout the 1980s, Vibeke designs starred in shows across London, Paris, Milan, New

York and Osaka. Fans worldwide fell in love with the striking and original garments, all

crafted by hand to the highest quality. Glamorous yet wearable, Vibeke garments are

much more than a fashion item. They are works of art to be carefully treasured.

Fast forward 30 years and, inspired by the original designs, the new Vibeke collection is

taking the brand into the next generation.

Please note that all Vibeke knitwear is shaped for a slightly oversized fit. Due to the nature of the fabric content, jumpers are likely to increase by up to a whole size with regular wear.

All jumpers measure 22” in length from neckline to hemline. Long cardigans measure 36” from neckline to hemline; shorter cardigans measure 24”.

Garments are marked as either Small or Medium. We suggest a size Small to fit UK sizes 8 to 10; Medium is suitable for UK sizes 12 to 14, although you may wish to choose a smaller or larger

size if you desire a slightly tighter or looser fit.

Due to the delicate nature of the garments, we highly recommended that they be cared for by specialist dry cleaners only to prevent any damage to the leather. It is also advised that garments should not be hung, as this will ensure the weight of the appliqués and embellishments does not

cause the mohair to excessively stretch.
