Task 2- Double page spread analysis for my magazine of choice-

Main image- The main image is a long shot of Florence Welch (Florence and the machine). In the image she appears to be sat on an American flag. This represents her takeover of America talked about in the article. The images miss-en-scene of Florence sat on the American flag and keeping her feet in the shot relates intensely to the articles standfirst. The standfirst opens up the idea of the article being about Florence’s American take over as it states “America at her feet’. It is also supported by the background text ‘USA’. This text is a grey font, clearly used so attention is not taken away from the image of Florence.

Target audience- Although ‘Vibe’ magazine caters to a R&B and hip hop niches from the Florence and the machine article it is clear they include other genres of music. However, all music talked about is mainstream music that features in the recent charts. The magazine, therefore, also is suggested to be aimed at an older audience as Florence and the machine are seen to be a mature band as Florence and the machine are seen to be a mature indie rock band.
