I f you find the world of mathematics mystifying, then perhaps you haven't been taught by Fr. Philip J. Skeris Director of Development Managing Editor

VIATOR is published quarterly by the Clerics of St. Viator, the Viatorians, for friends, families, parishioners and alumni of Viatorian apostolates .

The Clerics of St. Viator are religious priests and brothers sent by the Catholic Church to teach the Faith and proclaim Jesus Christ as Gospel. In parishes, schools, and a variety of other ministries Viatorians work with Christian communities to live, deepen and celebrate their faith.

Our legal title is: Clerics of St. Viator.

From The Provincial's Perspective Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Viatorians.

Around our Province, many special things are happening. Recently, the new St. Viator Church in Las Vegas was dedicated, and a ground-breaking ceremony was held at St. Thomas More Parish in Henderson, Nevada, as that community begins to build a new church. St. Viator High School dedicated the Marie Gallagher Resource Center, outfitted to insure that the technology available for students will carry them into the next millennium. Sacred Heart Parish in Goodrich, IL recently celebrated the lOOth anniversary of its founding, and Maternity B.V.M. parish in Bourbonnais is

preparing to celebrate its 150th birthday. New and exciting endeavors are a part of the Viatorian story these days, and I am pleased to share some of them with you.

Our feature article tells the story of another Viatorian Teacher of Faith. Recently, St. Viator High School honored Father Arnold Perham, C.S.V. at an annual school event designed to recognize teachers who have made an outstanding impact on the St. Viator High School community. The story about Father Perham is a wonderful tribute to his commitment and dedication to the ministry of education and service to young people. I'm proud to share this story with you and invite you to witness another example of dedication to the Viatorian charism and mission of being "Teachers of Faith" .

I hope you enjoy this issue of our Quarterly Newsletter. As always, I welcome your comments and reactions. Please feel free to write or call at (708) 398-1354. We are always happy to hear from you.

Finally, I want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement of the Viatorians. We appreciate your loyalty and assure you of our continued prayers.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Egan, C.S.V. Provincial

Centennial Celebration

Sacred Heart Parish in Goodrich, Illinois celebrated their 1 OOth Anniversary of service to the people of God in July. Fr. Paul Jasinski, C.S.V. pastor of Sacred Heart reports that the parish community has worked hard in preparing for this joyous occasion. A solemn liturgy w as celebrated July 9, followed by a reception for the parish.

Viatorians have served continuously at Sacred Heart for almost half a century, since 1946. Fr.
