Nirmaan Organisation is a Non Govt. and Non Profit Organisation committed to work for poverty free, knowledge driven and thus, economically empowered Nation by focusing on providing education and livelihood opportunities for underprivileged people.

Nirmaan erstwhile My INDIA was started by a group of students of BITS, Pilani in the month of Feb, 2005, got registered as NPO on July 12, 2007 at Hyderabad. At present, it is operating with around 500 members through 8 chapters in four different states.

DISHA - career workshops is one of the key projects of Nirmaan - Pilani, with the mission that all the students in schools (in and around Pilani) should have knowledge about the various fields they can pursue after their high school and also the jobs, careers related to them.

The major challenge faced by many students in rural parts of our country is the lack of information and guidance. We decided to empower students of rural India by creating awareness in them about the different opportunities they have after they come out of school.

Disha-career workshops are a direct face to face interaction of the volunteers and the school children where the career counseling is provided to the students of 9 th and 10th

standards. This has a long lasting impact and motivates the students to inspire themselves for making them dream BIG. It is presently having a dedicated team of 8 which has already counseled more than 1500 school students in Pilani.

Nirmaan Funding Proposal for“Vidya Help Line - Pilani”

Introduction:It is observed that a student faces the two major hurdles while choosing and pursuing a right career:

Lack of “relevant information on demand” to make a life changing decision Lack of monetary and/or family support to pursue a career of his/her choice

In order to address these problems Nirmaan has initiated the “Vidya Help Line (VHL)” project that aims at providing Career Guidance to the students. Initiating with Ranga Reddy district, Andhra Pradesh which has already crossed 25,000 calls since it’s initiation from 22nd May 2010, we are now expanding the project to Pilani with the below vision

“Every student will obtain excellent guidance and appropriate ways to obtain monetary support to pursue the right education of their choice”

Vidya Help Line delivers information using the following two methods A free tele-counseling center ‘Goal Setting and Career Counseling Workshops’ in schools

1. Tele-Counseling through VHL number

The key objective of Tele counseling service is to provide authentic and complete information to students in the categories of careers, courses, vocational and job oriented courses, open education, scholarships etc., We are aiming to cross 10,000 calls milestone by May 2013.

2. Career Counseling Workshops: Making rural kids dream BIG!

Career Counseling workshops are basically aimed at goal setting and providing career guidance to the school students by inspiring them to aspire for greater heights and

exposing them to a huge spectrum of opportunities. We have reached more than 2,000 school students. The summary of the outlays incurred per year through two of the channels of career counseling are given below.

Initially we are concentrating on local pilani schools as well as surrounding areas and further we will be implementing this to Jhunjhunu district as soon as we have reached our aim.
