DocketsProposed rule to revise 9 CFR Parts 54 and 79
The comment period for the proposed rule closed on
December 9th and APHIS officials are currently reviewing
the input we received.
15
DocketsImport Sheep and Goats
APHIS has drafted a proposed rule for the import
of sheep and goats, their embryos, and products,
to mitigate risks from scrapie and BSE, which will
move the U.S. into closer alignment with OIE
guidelines. The proposed rule is currently in
clearance.
16
We need your help!• In order to find the last scrapie cases we
need producers especially those who do not market cull animals through traditional marketing channels to submit heads of mature sheep/goats found dead on farm for scrapie testing.
• For more information go to the APHIS Scrapie Website at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_health/animal_diseases/scrapie/gen_submission.shtml
