Deacons was founded by an ambitious 26 year old

George Deacon in 1848 and is now a business in

its 6th generation. The son of a Westbury farmer

George was a trained clock and watchmaker and came

to Swindon “to keep the trains on time”. Deacons

became subcontractors to the Great Western and later

main timekeepers for the Midland and South-West

Junction Line.

Today at Deacons we pride ourselves in offering

Deacons flagship store now boasts a superbly fitted out new Rolex

sales area which reflects the quality and excellence of the world’s

foremost watch brand. Each watch is carefully selected and

offers a superb present to celebrate the milestones of long

service and personal achievements.

The Rolex Oyster was first launched by Hans Wilsdorf in

1926. Today the collection of Rolex Oyster watches has been

expanded to include many new models in Steel, Steel and Yellow

Rolesor, and 18ct Gold. For those pursuing excellence then Rolex is

the answer.

Our magnificent on-site workshops with skilled craftspeople provide

the back-up required to ensure a first class personal service. The

jewellery workshop can create something new or repair something

old. We also produce commissioned bespoke jewellery for those who

Clock & engraving workshops

Our engraving workshop offers a fast and efficient service to give your

chosen piece a personal and lasting touch. Deacons offer an extensive

range of items suitable for engraving – tankards, trophies,

silver and silver-plated salvers, plaques, pens, crystal and

many more gifts.

For our corporate clients, we are highly skilled at generating

and reproducing company logos and personal designs.

Our clock workshop can undertake clock and barometer repairs of

every description from the smallest alarm clock to the largest of outside

clocks, reflecting the company’s rich history in all things horological.
