LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR/CARTA DE NUESTRO PARROCO
4 3
Queridos Feligreses,
Muchas responsabilidades
adicionales requieren nuestro tiempo. El significado espiritual de Advien-
to está bien situado.
mino a Belén.
Oh María, dulce Madre mía, a tu intercesión recurrimos, sabiendo
Padre David.
Dear Parishioners,
Advent is now well begun. Today, we see the second candle lit
upon the Advent Wreath. The progressive lighting of the four
candles marks the passing of time, and it symbolizes the in-
crease of the light of holiness in our hearts.
December is a month of holidays. It is preceded by Thanksgiving
and followed by the New Year. Many extra responsibilities re-
quire our time. The spiritual meaning of Advent is well placed.
This time is an invitation to withdraw from the strain and pressure
of the holidays and rest in the company of the Holy Family. If we
look back upon the Nativity of the Lord as it is explained in the
Gospels, then we can follow Mary and Joseph as they prepare for
the birth of our Savior, Jesus.
The distance from Nazareth to Bethlehem is about eighty miles.
This is a long distance to travel on foot. Joseph and Mary pre-
pared, each in their own way for the journey. Their hearts were
filled with deep and abiding joy. They had given themselves over
in a spirit of faith to the birth of Our Savior. Joseph was con-
structing the crib in which the infant Jesus would be laid. Mary
was weaving the swaddling cloths in which she would enfold Je-
sus at his birth. They too, just as we are, were very busy with
preparations.
Let us rest in the company of Mary and Joseph. They will show us
the way to Bethlehem.
O Mary, most sweet Mother, to thy intercession we have re-
course, knowing that thy divine Son will hear our prayers. And do
thou, O glorious Patriarch, Saint Joseph, assist us by thy powerful
mediation and offer, by the hands of Mary, our prayers to Jesus.
Amen.
Your Pastor,
Father David.

YEAR OF REPARATION/AÑO DE REPARACIÓN Our Lady of Reparation
Immaculate Virgin, refuge of sinners, in order to atone for the
injuries done to Almighty God and the evil inflicted on humanity by
sin, you accepted with resignation the death of your divine Son on
the Cross, be ever favorable toward us, and in heaven, where you
reign gloriously, continue in our behalf your work of fervor and love.
We would be your children: show yourself to be our Mother.
Obtain from Jesus, our divine Redeemer that he may be pleased
to apply to our souls the fruits of his passion and death, and deliver
us from the bonds of our iniquities.
May he be our light in the midst of darkness, our strength in weak-
ness, our refuge in the midst of danger, may he strengthen us by his
grace and love in this world, and grant us to love him, see him and
possess him in the world to come.
Amen.
(THIS PRAYER WAS COMPOSED AND APPROVED IN 1904 DURING THE PONTIFI-
CATE OF POPE SAINT PIUS X AND CARRIES A PARTIAL INDULGENCE OF 500
DAYS.)
do por venir.
Amen.
(ESTA ORACIÓN FUE COMPUESTA Y APROBADA EN 1904 DURANTE EL PONTIFICADO
DEL PAPA SAN PÍO X Y LLEVA UNA INDULGENCIA PARCIAL DE 500 DÍAS.)
