Vici Kids Camp It’s

almost time! Camp dates are July 28, 29, & 30. This week-end is a wonderful time of get-ting to know the people from our sister churches in the area and beyond. We will have lots of fun in the swimming pool, on the inflatables, games, great food, not to mention the awesome services! (There is a little sleep thrown in there too!) We also have a nurse on site to treat any scrapes, bumps, or stings and also make certain all medications are administered properly. Come spend some time with your friends and make lots of new ones too!

If you are ready to jump in with both feet see Shelly Palacios or Cindy Stone. Registration pack-ets can be found on the foyer tables at the church. Registration fee - $65 by July 22. Get your regis-tration completed & money in to insure your spot in the fun.

Please join us in prayer that we will not be hin-dered in any way from hearing God's word to us and He will move mightily among us.

MISSIONS NITE – JULY 23 We are learning about Swaziland. This is the first nation that the church entered on the continent of Africa. Herman Schmelzenbach was the first mis-sionary to that nation. Now the Nazarene Church has a long history with the government of Swazi-land and great things are happening. Come be a part and start checking out recipes from Swaziland (no cow intestine recipes please!) LOL

Spiritual Gifts

1 Corinthians 12:7 says: “A spiritual gift is giv-en to each of us so we can help each oth-er.” (New Living Translation) In a new sermon series called “Power Up!” starting in July, Pas-tor Nathan will be exploring how God has gift-ed each of us in unique ways and how we can all use our God given spiritual gifts to help build each other up in the body of Christ. Do you know what your Spiritual Gifts are? Go online to our website at woodwardnaz.org and take the spiritual gifts assessment! Knowing how God has gifted you can help you get in-volved in a place where you can shine, be hap-py and give God the most glory as we all build each other up in Christ.

Got skills? There are several projects at the church we could use help with!

Call the office for a list. 580-254-3316

“I could not stand long without having to sit down,”

said 25-year-old Alima in Burkina Faso. “I suffered from

this backache for three years. The JESUS film was

shown in my village, but there was no place for me to

sit as I watched the life of Christ. At the end of the film,

I realized I had stood for the whole film and my back

was no longer hurting! It was then I realized Christ had

healed my back. I have given my heart to Jesus and

want to share this good news with my family and

friends.”

Pray for Alima as she attends discipleship classes and

grows in her faith.

The worldwide Church of the Nazarene has partnered with

Jesus Film to spread the gospel again this year. At our Gen-

eral Assembly we were able to give 77 new complete kits

and hundreds of other materials to help our 600 plus

teams in the field .

I was exhausted. I had been sick and it had zapped my energy big time. Wednesday night church was great but driving the van route and teaching really took it out of me that night. I was finally home though and ready to go inside and rest. A neighbor kid came riding into our yard as I pulled into our driveway and proudly boasted: "Look how fast I can ride on my bike! I'm really fast! I'm going to ride to the end of the street and you better watch me!"

"Oh boy. I'm really tired and just want to go inside" I thought, but I obliged, entertaining the notion that I might go inside when he reached our neighbors yard because chances were, he would not be coming back when he reached the end of the road. But, despite my body screaming "No!" I decided to stick it out as he rode to the end. It's important for kids to know that someone cares, and after all, riding fast is no silly thing for them. He took off, peddling as fast as he could go, an empty water bottle jammed into his bike frame made a humming sound as his tire rotat-ed against it - his very own version of a race car, though it sounded more like a remote control car to me. At the end of the street, he totally wrecked big time. Ugh. Time to go rescue the kid. I dragged my aching body toward the street and begin jogging his way, hoping it wasn't too bad and that he would get up or that I at least would have enough energy to make it to his house a few blocks over once I got him up. He turned out ok.

I'm glad Jesus set an example for us on how to care for others, even when he was tired.

Mark 6:31-34 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a soli-tary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

Lord, give me more compassion!

Woodward Nazarene had 11 teens go to Camp Bond for church camp this year, many of them for the first time in their lives. They had a great time and the teens responded well to the speaker, with many of them making commitments to the Lord!
