LOGIC DEVELOPER PRODUCTIVITY

Customer Successes VersaMax Control SystemCustomer : Emergency Power Control

Problem : Distributed control, Ethernet connectivity and interface to Modbus Slave devices

Solution : VersaMax CPUE05 and Ethernet NIUs with remote I/O. The CPU serial ports enabled the controller to monitor and control Modbus Slave devices.

Benefits : The previous control system was more expensive to solve the Modbus Master and Ethernet connection. VersaMax reduced hardware cost by 20%.

The CPUE05 has two serial ports and also a built-in Ethernet port. The powerful communications options of the CPUE05 enabled the OEM to easily integrate all the networking needs in one controller.

Another benefit of the CPUE05 enabled the OEM to store 20K of data on the CPU.

Ethernet NIU enabled the OEM to reduce the wiring back to the control panel.

The Proficy LD PDA and a Palm Pilot were provided to the user for trouble shooting. The LD PDA enabled the end user to reduce training cost and eliminate the high cost of a laptop computer.

LOGIC DEVELOPER PRODUCTIVITY

Customer Successes VersaMax Control SystemCustomer : Packaging Machine

Problem : High speed packaging line that requires an operator interface, bar code reader interface, thermocouple inputs and distributed I/O

Solution : VersaMax CPU005, VersaMax DP operator interface, thermocouple inputs and 5 remote I/O stations using the VersaMax network.

Benefits : The VersaMax CPU has two serial ports that enabled the OEM to use one port for the operator interface and one port using Serial Read/Write commands to talk to the bar code reader. The CPU had 18K of registers used store packaging sequences.

The operator interface allowed the customer to enter manually the bar codes as a backup system. The operator interface also provided step by step directions to the operator on what to do.

The VersaMax controllers enable distributed I/O at an economical cost for up to 7 stations at 750 meters. In this application the customer used 5 remote I/O stations with approximately 20 I/O at each drop. The distributed I/O provided an inexpensive remote I/O for the packaging machine.
