• 40% of total O/S student population are from India and China

• Make up 20-30% of the student population

Vulnerability which may lead to exploitation in work or living

Process for dealing with reports of crime

Student to send an email to identified Chinese speaking staff

of NSWPF [email protected]

The crime report is forwarded to the relevant Local Area

Command (LAC) and update on the Weibo MDL

The person who made the crime report is updated on actions

taken by police AND is urged to contact police themselves

(providing relevant links to LAC pages)

Process for translation

A number of students are rostered on every week by the

supervising teacher to provide translations for moderation.

5 – 10 students rostered on a long-term basis to provide

translations.

Students send translations in an editable document (eg. Word)

to [email protected].

Students are NOT able to post messages without the permission

of the Weibo team.

Provision of information within a different cultural context

Limitations in responding to all posts

Cost involved in professional translations can be

prohibitive

Social media is interactive, information can often be dry, it

requires adaptation to this medium
