Verona Italy, is world famous for being the city of lovers and one of the wonders of Italy. Here, indeed, is the home of Juliet, with the famous balcony, recalling the troubled love story of Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare.

The historic Arena is symbol of the city, the third largest Roman amphitheater in Italy, in summer becomes the stage for great performances, concerts and the Arena opera season.

• Verona is UNESCO Heritage site since the year 2000 and is a beautiful example of integrating urbanism, architecture and art of different time periods in history that have taken place in over 2000 years.

• The highest expression is Piazza Erbe: architecture of Roman era, Medieval and Renaissance times harmoniously integrated with those of the time of Della Scala and nineteenth-century buildings.

Next to it is Piazza dei Signori, the living room of Verona, another perfect example of the historical stratification with the monument to Dante Alighieri.

Near the Adige river are other great works of Roman and Scala ages, for sure the two historical periods that most marked the history of the city: the Castelvecchio fortress, now the Museum of Modern Art, the Scaliger Ponte, mirabile example of medieval architecture, and Scaliger Arches, superb tomb works built for the remains of the Gentlemen of Verona (Shakespeare’s play “The Two Gentlemen of Verona”).

Across the river you can see the remains of the Teatro Romano where nowadays, as in the past, hare held important theatrical events such as the Verona Jazz Festival and the Shakespeare Festival.

From there you have access to the Archaeological Museum which exhibits decorative objects and sculptures from the period of Roman domination.

Among the religious buildings of great artistic and architectural value worth visiting is the cathedral, recently restored to take to its former glory the superb frescoes and with the marble which decorate its interior surface, the Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore: it is a Romanesque church full of important sculptures and paintings.

All Verona area is full of art treasures, an example are the impressive villas and imposing castles to be found along the shores of Lake Garda, where you will find Villa Albertini, in the town of Garda, one of the grandest medieval houses surrounded by a large park with tree lined streets, fountains, waterfalls and caves.
