Werner Herzog chronicles the virtual world from its origins to its outermost reaches, ex-ploring the digital landscape with the same curiosity and imagination he previously trained on earthly destinations as disparate as the Amazon, the Sahara, the South Pole and the Australian outback. Working with NetScout, a world leader in real time service assurance and cybersecurity, Herzog leads viewers on a jour-ney through a series of provocative conversa-tions that reveal the ways in which the online world has transformed how virtually every-thing in the real world works - from business to education, space travel to healthcare, and the very heart of how we conduct our personal relationships.

KONELINE: our land beautiful KONELINE: our land beautiful KONELINE: our land beautiful

The Tahltan First Nation has lived in remote northwestern British Columbia for thousands of years. They call their land "koneline" which means "our land beautiful" as well as "our mind beautiful," inextricably weaving human consciousness with the health of the land. Copper and gold mining companies call the Tahltan territory "the golden triangle," while hunting outfitters refer to it as "Canada's Ser-engeti. A cinematic poem, Koneline evokes both the beauty and the complicated nature of its inhabitants and their relationship with this

unique "wilderness."

The lives of 25-year-old Jean Jones and her multi-generational, middle-class Jamaican-American family of strong-minded, stubborn yet loving women come to an arresting stop when her estranged grandfather dies on the doorstep of the family's brownstone during a Sunday dinner. Tensions rise and old conflicts come to a boil as Jean uncovers the family's buried secrets. Throughout the film, the Jones women face their divorces, infidelities, and past transgressions. In particular, Jean faces the tough truths of her career and her crip-pling ability to move on from a past relation-

ship to the love staring her right in the face.

Spanish maestro Pedro Almodóvar is re-nowned for his ability to move effortlessly from high drama to high farce, exploring the contradictions of human needs and desire through a range of styles and tones. And, as one of the cinema's greatest makers of films about women, it is only fitting that for his lat-est and 20th feature he has chosen to adapt the work of Nobel Prize winner Alice Munro, Canada's answer to Chekhov. Mining three stories from Munro's exquisite collection Run-away and relocating them to Spain, Almodóvar creates a marvellously textured tale that exam-ines the strained relationship between a mother and daughter.

“The film's no-nonsense, visually plain documentary-style of shooting feels utterly appropriate to its sly evocation of the absurdities and banalities of modern life. Just brilliant.” - Time Out
