a brand’s lifestyle and how to manifest this lifestyle into a retail environ-

ment. We develop a strategy that reflects the brand’s goal and how to

bring their retail vision to fruition.

New York City, NY

BURTON FLAGSHIP STORE

Located in the heart of Soho, the flagship store is housed in a significantly historical building.

VERDEGO reinterpreted the historical setting to create a dynamic and exciting retail experi-

ence using the richly layered historical neighborhood filled with artists and shopping.

Page 8: VERDEGO PROJECTS

The design incorporates elements of the mountains, authentic materials such as barn wood,

distressed steel and refurbished vintage floors as well as paring cutting edge technology to

create a potent customer experience.

Page 9: VERDEGO PROJECTS

flanking the cashwrap, the ‘Cabin’, is an A frame structure pivots on its access to create

a sense of movement and rhythm. Made of vintage timbers and exposed distressed steel

hardware, the cabin evokes the feeling of a Vermont cabin. The surrounding soffits and

cashwrap are clad in barn wood.

Page 10: VERDEGO PROJECTS

The design of the store’s interior draws on inspiration from the mountain lodges of Vermont

with soffits clad in local vintage barnwood as well distressed steel beams and edging.

The ‘Chairlift’ feature with the quality of a period chairlift made of curved powder coated

steel and wood slats. The chairlift houses featured merchandise to create a distinctive space

within the store.

Page 12: VERDEGO PROJECTS

The store’s design contains a central feature area that houses snowboard styles and hardgoods.

Over 100 years of paint was stripped from the iron columns to reveal its original surface beauty.

This section has a custom stained floor and is surrounded by original columns.

The ‘Snowboard Press’ brings to life the Burton Snowboard fabrication process. It is a

recreation of the snowboard press used in Burton’s Vermont design shop. To emphasize

this, a video screens sitting within the press, shows films of the snowboard making pro-

cess.

raw steel and exposed beams.

as well as reclaimed wood, while allowing a clear view to the back of the store.

ROXY store in the high end South Coast Plaza Mall. Located in Orange County, the home to

Roxy’s parent brand Quiksilver, the store highlights a collection of eclectic surf artifacts.

Page 18: VERDEGO PROJECTS

Dark zinc soffits and wall panels contrast and highlight the original structure while

perforated metal panels allow the building to glow as a lantern in the night.

Page 20: VERDEGO PROJECTS

VERDEGO collaborated with artists Craig Stecyk and Kevin Ancell to create a 25’-0” long

mural along the side of the building with adjacent benches that are skate friendly.

Page 21: VERDEGO PROJECTS

The surf shop displays hundreds of surfboards which direct attention to a 15’-0” LCD

display of vintage surf footage. Surf art and displays celebrate Quiksilver’s surf team

and surf culture.

Page 22: VERDEGO PROJECTS

The skate area is reminiscent of an auto body shop with its large metal panels and a black

framed “garage door” area. The skating video and an industrial palette reflect Quiksilver’s

urban skate brand, DC Shoes.

Page 23: VERDEGO PROJECTS

The Gallery / Pop-Up Store area is partially enclosed by an storefront glazing system and

the space allows for monthy art installations by local Venice artists as well as limited edi-

tion products that can also be featured.

Page 24: VERDEGO PROJECTS

Under one of the store’s many skylights, VERDEGO brings nature into the space

through a 14-0” vertical garden of air plants with seating beneath.

Page 25: VERDEGO PROJECTS

of surf and sand. The light natural palette integrates “found” elements, flea market

paintings and incorporated art installations.
