An action verb is a word that tells what people or things do
The verb is always in the predicate
Ex. Scott / lifted the heavy box.
Main Verbs and Helping Verbs
A verb may be more than one word The main verb is the most
important verb The helping verb comes before the
main verb Ex. I am going to the store.

Being Verbs
A being verb shows that someone or something is
Being verbs do not express any actions
Example: Sean is an athlete.
Common Being Verbs
Here are examples of common being verbs:
am, was, has been, will be, is, were, have been, shall be, are, had been
Present, Past, and Future
The tense of the verb lets you know whether something happens in the present, past or in the future.
