Present you the meaning of the verb to be, its conjugations and
how it can be used in a sentence.

The verb to be means Ser / Estar
Its meaning will depend on the context of the sentence, and what you
want to express in
each moment.
Pronoun Verb to be Translation
I am Yo soy / Yo estoy
You are Tú eres / Tú estas
He is Él es / Él está
She is Ella es / Ella está
It is Eso(a) es / Eso(a) Está
We are Nosotros somos / estamos
They are Ellos Ellas / Son Estan

The verb to be has three forms: am, is and are.
The form am is only used for the 1st person singular(I)
Is only for the 3rd person singular (he, she , it),
Are for the 2nd person singular and plural (You), the 1st person plural (we) and 3rd person plural (they).

Contraction
The personal pronoun does not change. What it is
modified is the form of the verb,
that loses the first syllable and is replaced by an
apostrophe.

The position of the verb to be, depends on the sense of the sentence. It can be affirmative, negative or
interrogative.
