Page 2: Ventilated facade

Rainscreen cladding or ventilated façade has become the choice for many architects

and looking for an efficient solution for cladding and an appealing finish. Rainscreen

systems are a superficial treatment, applied either as a component of new

construction work, or as a facade and insulation enhancement to existing structures.

The outer weather resistant decorative panelling is 'loose fit' in concept, which means

it can be easily replaced to suit changing tastes, new materials and company image.

Panels are attached to the main structure with a simple grid of metal framing which

varies according to the system. This allows space for a ventilated and drained cavity,

with provision for insulation to be attached to the substructure.

FIXING SYSTEMS

Support structures vary in their format

and complexity according to the nature of

the cladding material, drainage, and

rainscreen system.

Most support systems are proprietary

and are often designed together with a

cladding system from the same

manufacturer.

The support system will usually comprise

of vertical or vertical and horizontal fixing

rails fixed back to the structure using

brackets. Additional brackets may be

used to fix the cladding to the supporting

rails. Generally grooves are required on

the lower and upper edges of each stone,

into which a connecting element is

inserted.

WHY NATURAL STONE?

Natural stone is a resistant, durable material

whose wide use in buildings over the centuries

attests its endurance through the most adverse

climatic conditions.

It is a natural eco-friendly material meeting the

requires for sustainable construction, being a

suitable option concerning green buildings and

the latest certifications (e.g. LEED).

The diversity of stone varieties offers an

exclusive range of colours and textures, easily

suiting any taste and design preference. The

result is unequivocally exquisite and timeless.

Thousands of square meters of

limestone cladding for ventilated façade

systems are produced every year at

Lusorochas.

The application system is defined by the

client or by the façade system supplier,

whom provide the indications for the

production of the stone panels.

At Lusorochas expertise and high-level

technical resources contribute to

optimizing production while assure high-

quality standards and a high quality

product in very demanding timescales

and at a competitive rate.

NOTE: Lusorochas produces and supplies the stone panels. Instructions

concerning the system and application on the local are provided by the client or

by the fixation system supplier.
