VDS A VALUABLE NETWORK A TRUSTED RESOURCE
The VDS program has evolved since its inception in 2002 to create a second
phase of the program that specializes in analyzing, strengthening and
expanding the program for greater efficiency and impact.
The pilot program began in 2012 with 5 geographic sites representative of
the diversity of populations and communities: Fresno, CA; Kansas, KA;
New York, NY; Portland, OR and Washington DC.
In 2014, second phase was expanded to include: Los Angles, CA; San Diego,
CA; Dallas, TX; El Paso, TX; and Chicago, IL.
Ventanilla de Salud HHS - ASPR Collaboration
Suggested collaborative efforts : Dissemination of core messages at all the
VDS sites regarding Emergency response protocol, services and resources
Informational webinars to all the VDS staff (hosted by HHS/ASPR) on Emergency response programs and services in geographic areas of VDS sites
Development and distribution of standardized information: fact sheet, directories, etc. from HHS/ASPR in Spanish
Development of collaborative network of communication for dissemination of information and assistance during emergencies
Possible funding opportunities for VDS sites to implement work at the 50 geographic locations across the U.S.
