Welcome to Mallow College of FurtherEducation (MCFE) and thank you fortaking time to read through the EveningEducation prospectus for spring 2015.Evening Education is the new rebrandeddepartment of MCFE, the largest furthereducation college in North Cork. A widerange of programmes are on offer,varying from accredited and generalinterest programmes available everyautumn and spring. The programmes onoffer are adapted each term to suit theneeds and interests of learners andindustry. The programmes enablelearners to develop new skills in aspecific area which can aid futureemployments. MCFE values theimportance of education and for spring2015 the theme is “Opening Minds,Creating Futures”. Paramount to thesuccess of MCFE is the building ofstrong relationships between learners,tutors and local communitygroups/organisations.
Recognising both the dynamic andcomplex nature of the challenges andopportunities presented in the workplace,we strive, not just to respond to them, butto anticipate them. The vision for theEvening Education Department is tocontinue forging links with industry anddeveloping programmes that aid localindustry needs and create opportunitiesfor learners to develop new skill sets.MCFE boosts two campuses with a widevariety of modern high quality facilities,which creates the ideal environment forteaching and learning.
We have a number of new programmesavailable for spring 2015 and haverevised a number of our existingprogrammes. A full refund will be given to all applicants for courses, which do not proceed. Studentswho attend one night of a course are not entitled to a refund, unless they are veryexceptional circumstances. In this case, students must fill out a refund request form, thisform must outline the circumstances for the refund. We regret we cannot entertain anyother requests for refunds.
Certificates of Attendance will be provided to learners where a learner has at least 70%attendance on the programme.
On 6 November 2012, Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) was established as anew integrated agency (replacing the Further Education and Training Awards Council,the Higher Education and Training Awards Council and the National QualificationsAuthority of Ireland and incorporating the functions of the Irish Universities QualityBoard).
QQI is responsible for the external quality assurance of further and higher education andtraining (including English language provision) and validates programmes and makesawards for certain providers in these sectors.

QQI/FETAC ProgrammesQQI is also responsible for the maintenance, development and review of the NationalFramework of Qualifications (NFQ).
Since its establishment, QQI has been progressing the development of its qualificationsand quality assurance services. In May 2013, QQI rolled out a Comprehensive PolicyDevelopment Programme through a number of large public events and an extensiveconsultation process.
Through MCFE learners will complete prescribed assignments and assessment and/orexams in order to receive the relevant FETAC/QQI awards. Results for all QQI/FETACassessment will be posted to respective learners in June of each year, with a graduationceremony taking place with a later in the year.
This will take place on Monday January 12th from 7:30pm to 9pm in Mallow CollegeAnnabella Campus.

• Please note classes will run as normal through Mid Term Break week beginningFebruary 16th.
