Does your car turn 5 years old this month? If so, it may be time to change the cambelt If theres one thing you dont want to happen to your vehicle, it is the cambelt failing . . . If your cambelt isnt changed at the specifi ed interval or neglected, it will fail. Over a period of time and mileage, the rubber cambelt deteriorates and, if neglected, can suddenly snap, leading to expensive major repairs to your engine-or even a new engine. If you are unsure of when your cambelt is due to be changed, you can check your vehicles service book, or call us here at Vasstech. Vasstech uses Cambelt kits, meaning not only the belt but the tensioner and roller will be changed also, ensuring your cambelt runs as it should. Amazing Fireworks No 1 for explosive entertainmentwww.amazingreworks.co.uk

  • Lower your bills and bring warmth to your home

this winter and for years to come

Picture this: Its a cold night, the wind is howling outside - but youre snuggled up in-front of a cosy roaring fire. The problem is that an open fire is only about 15-25% efficient

(meaning that up to 85% of the heat it produces is wasted up the chimney) and wood cant be burned in designated smoke control areas. Thankfully, there is a green alternative.

Beautiful, versatile and economical, a stove makes a stylish and practical addition to any home and can actually increase the value and saleability of your property. Some modern wood-burning or multi-fuel stoves are capable of running at more than 80% efficiency, which means you will benefit from at least three times the amount of heat that an open fire can produce. Plus there are an increasing number of models that have such low emissions that they can be used in smoke control zones.

Much more than a pretty face

As gas and electricity prices continue to soar, wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves are no longer just a stylish addition to a room. Theyre one of the most efficient and

cost-effective ways of heating your home. Some stoves also come with a back boiler to provide a complete domestic hot water and heating system - significantly reducing your utility bills.

    Reducing your carbon footprint

Wood is a carbon neutral fuel, which means it only gives off as much carbon dioxide when burnt as it absorbed during the trees life. In fact, when burnt in a modern and efficient stove, wood gives off the same amount of CO2 when burnt as it would if it was being left to decompose naturally. Many new stoves also feature clean burn systems, which generate heat from the gases given off by the burning wood the result is fewer harmful emissions, greater warmth and less soot.

    Much more than just stoves

Based in the heart of Kilsby, Just Stoves stocks a wide range of wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves and has been advising, selling and installing stoves for more over eight years. Owners Rachel and Tim Settle pride themselves on providing the very best service and, having discussed your requirements with you, will organise a site visit to inspect your chimney and offer expert advice before providing you with a free, no-obligation estimate.

Whether your home is a cosy cottage or Victorian terrace; new build or contemporary conversion; you are sure to find a stove in their extensive showroom that perfectly complements your existing decor and adds unique character, warmth and energy efficiency to your home.

Have your cake and eat it!Healthy Eating

Who says you cant have your cake and eat it ... a healthy cake!!!

Do you ever have that tired slump feeling come mid morning or mid afternoon? One of the reasons for this could be a result of having a breakfast or lunch that is high in simple carbohydrates, such as white bread, sweetened cereals, white pasta, baked potato, and not enough protein. Unfortunately when that tired feeling hits, we often head for a chocolate bar or a bag of crisps tasty they may be, but the energy these give us will be short lived and leave us wanting more....

To avoid the slump make sure you eat a balance of protein and more complex carbohydrates for every meal. Add a piece of fruit to your porridge or some tomatoes with your egg, and youre on your way to your 5 a day.

A balanced lunch For lunch, again choose meals that give a good balance and include some fresh vegetables if youre having a baked potato for example, have it with salad and include some protein such as a piece of chicken. If youre having pasta, choose wholewheat and have with vegetables and some protein such as prawns. But beware, when eating a packaged meal from a shop, check the ingredient label if its supposed to be a prawn pasta salad, make sure that the only ingredients are prawn, pasta and vegetables!

To keep our energy levels high during the day, eating the right snack is important, nuts, seeds, dried apricot, olives, dried beans, hummus and raw veg are excellent choices.

But if a cake is what you crave, heres a recipe for a cake that provides an excellent

balance of protein and complex carbohydrates that will keep your energy levels high and stop you feeling hungry, great for an afternoon snack:

Ingredients:5 large eggs, yolks and whites separated 1 tbsp vanilla essence 3 tbsp agave nectar or maple syrup 3 tbsp natural low fat yogurt2 large bananas mashed

Dry ingredient list:100 gm organic jumbo oats 30 gm ground flaxseed30 gm ground almonds 25 gm seasame seeds75 gm sunflower/pumkin seed mix 2 tbpn cinnamon powder100 gm whole nuts (unsalted) of your choice 2 tsp baking powder100 gm dried chopped apricot Extra nuts & seeds for cake toppings

Whisk together the egg yolks, yogurt, vanilla essence, syrup until a pale yellow creamy colour, then add in the mashed bananas and mix in well.

Whisk up the egg whites until soft peaks form.

Add the egg yolk mixture to the dry ingredients, ensuring well combined, then gently fold in the egg whites until well mixed.

Spoon the mixture into muffin cases in a muffin tin (this will make about 16 individual cakes), sprinkle some seeds and nuts on to the top of each cake.

Place in a preheated oven, gas mark 5, 190c for 35 minutes. Take out of the oven and place on a cooling rack. Keep in an air tight container these also freeze really well.

    Yum!

...we make saving money perfectly clear...

STEAMED UP DOUBLE GLAZING?Dont replace the Frames... just the Panes!

Old Fashioned Values Pay Dividends For Cloudy2ClearIts been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Trevor Skidmore feels that his approach is the key. Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But its not just about

saving people money, although that obviously helps. Some people may call the way I do things a little old-fashioned but its amazing how a simple mix of manners, punctuality and personal service increases your business. Im constantly taken aback by customers who are shocked that we turn up when we say we will, do the job that is required and clean up after ourselves. Im afraid it indicates to me that there are many companies who dont and thats just not fair to the customer. Cloudy2Clear service the whole of Northamptonshire from their local depots and Trevor is finding that

his ethos is proving to be a major factor in his success. When I started out I just did the things that came naturally to me. I really hate being let down by tradesmen so I was determined not to let that happen to my customers. As it turns out that little bit of extra care has meant I get friends and familyof people I have done

work for on the phone constantly so its not just personally satisfying but good for business too. At the end of the day its not rocket science, is it? So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Trevor a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and hell be happy to help!

  • Out & aboutMarketing, to suit you and your home.

People sell a home for many different reasons. Some will be looking to move up or down the property ladder, some will be relocating for work purposes and others may be selling a home on behalf of a family member.

Because peoples reasons for selling can be very different, a good estate agent should consider all methods of sale in order to get a client the best price in the right timescale.

The traditional method and most common way houses are sold in England is by an estate agent placing an asking price on a property and then trying to achieve an offer as close as possible to this figure. Although most homes are sold in this way it can be time consuming and stressful for the vendors.

A better way of achieving a higher sale price may be by informal tender. This method enables the agent to set a guide price only and then encourages potential purchasers to place an offer, in writing, by a pre-set closing date. All bids are blind so purchasers do not know what

other potential buyers are looking to pay. The vendors remains under no obligation to accept any of the offers on the closing date and are still at liberty to sell in the traditional way if an acceptable price is not achieved.

Finally we have the auction. Tried and tested over hundreds of years, the auction is the only sure fire way to sell a property (or lot as it is called) knowing you will have achieved the best price on the day. It will also alleviate the worry of the deal falling through as contracts are literally exchanged at the fall of the hammer. There is a safety mechanism in place, called the reserve, which protects the vendor from selling for less than a minimum figure.

So, next time you ask an estate agent out to value a property ensure they have access to all means necessary in order to achieve the best possible price for you.
