Spring 2016
VBSS 2016 is Almost Here! Letter from our Board President,
Pam Rosenthal"Community is not a place. Community is what is taking place."
I read this quote several years ago and it struck me so much that Iwrote it on a PostIt note and stuck it on my bulletin board. It oftenreminds me of why I do the professional work that I do, and why Ichoose to volunteer my personal time with Leadership SandySprings. Ultimately, don't we all just want to live in healthy, fruitfulcommunities where we raise happy families and break bread withour neighbors? Over the past couple of months, Leadership Sandy Springs hasbrought thoughtprovoking, meaningful programs to the greatercommunity. At Live, Learn, Lead, we learned from Dr. JimJohnson about the profound demographic trends, and how wecan proactively prepare for the impact of these changes tostrengthen our communities. Just a few weeks ago, wediscussed our imminent transportation challenges and then cameto understand how these hurdles will ultimately create greaterconnectivity to each other and to our community. Leadership Sandy Springs continues to bring the critical issues tothe forefront to create dialogue, action and advocacy. It's true thatcommunity is what is taking place at Leadership Sandy Springs.Won't you join us?

Live, Learn, Lead Sandy Springs 2016 was a great success
LSS was honored and delighted to host the second annual Live,Learn, Lead Sandy Springs in February featuring Dr. Jim Johnsonof the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, UNC Chapel Hill. Dr.Johnson shared many fascinating and sobering demographictrends and statistics with Sandy Springs residents. Theinformation he presented illustrated the shifts many communitiesare experiencing. In his humorous style, he provided insights intohow to face these challenges as well as inspiration to continue theconversation in our local environment.
