If you don’t own Vault yet, go to www�alamode�com/vault to learn about what makes Vault

and Exact different from traditional backup solutions for appraisers�

If you’ve already purchased Vault, you can install it easily from inside TOTAL�

1� With TOTAL open, click Tools, and

select ConfigureSettings.

2� Select Vault� Then, click InstallVault.

3� Enter your a la mode username and

password, and click IAccept to begin the installation�

InstallExact is included with Vault, and installs with Vault automatically.

After Vault is installed, your settings are displayed� Use automatic scheduled backups to

keep your files safe effortlessly�ConfigureEnable automatic, scheduled

backups of your reports�

Check this box to turn on exact.

To backup or recover your preferences manually, jump to page 6.

If you’re on a network, we recommend configuring Vault and Exact on your server PC only.

Note: If you’re using the free version of Vault (Vault Express) you can only turn scheduling on and off. Your most recent 20 files are backed up at the time you choose.

Select a time when your PC is usually on and awake for the scheduled backup�

Vault monitors the selected folders� When new or updated reports are found, any new data is sent to the Vault at the scheduled time�

The filename options section lets you choose how to handle duplicate reports� We recommend the first option if you have plenty of Vault space, and the second option if space is limited�

Uploadreports

Let us do the work for you with a scheduled upload, or send reports to the Vault manually�

auTomaTic (recommended)

Simply enable scheduling when you configure your Vault settings (as shown on p�3)�

Vault uploads any new or changed reports for you at the time specified�

To upload a file from TOTAL’s Appraisal Desktop, simply select the file you want to

back up (1), and click SendtoVault(2).

Retrievefiles

To download reports from the Vault, log in to your account at vault�alamode�com� Check the

box next to the file(s) you want, click Retrieve, and choose Selectedfile(s).

The first time you retrieve a file from the Vault, you’re prompted to install the File Downloader. It’s a small utility that places your reports into TOTAL for you.

Choose a destination folder for your

report(s), and click Save. Your data

goes directly into that folder in TOTAL�

Backupyourpreferences

When you include Exact in your automatic backup (as shown on p�3), your databases and

settings are stored at the same time that Vault stores your reports, every time�

To manually upload your preferences, launch the Exact backup utility� It’s called Backup

YourPreferences,and is accessed from your WindowsStartMenu.

Recoveryourpreferences

To retrieve your preferences once they’re backed up, use the Exact recovery utility� It’s called

RecoverYourPreferences, and is accessed from your WindowsStartMenu.

Exact preferencesVault covers your reports, but Exact is for everything else you need in order to work.

Exact backs up your comps, QuickLists, user profiles, signatures, and contacts.

Exact also backs up forms marked as Favorites in the Contents menu, PowerView docking settings, and Map Wizard options.

Exact does not back up Color Categories, nor the contents of your Images folder.
