    Educational Cooperation ( Europe and India)

    The EU India Joint Action Plan:

    Global Partners for Global Challenges signed inSeptember 2008 has a chapter on education, stressingthe need for instruments for facilitating mobility andexchange through joint cooperation on equal terms.

    The road towards increased EU-India cooperation inhigher education has its hurdles.

    Among the points identified for further policy

    discussion in the Joint Declaration on Education are mechanisms for promoting faculty and student

    mobility between India and Europe, and

    tools for recognizing qualifications and periods ofstudy, and tools for the transfer of learning

    outcomes.

    Despite the hurdles one has to accept the fact thatinterdependence of economies is inevitable in a global era.

    It is the education sector that can play a critical role inmaking the global economy a success story. As mentionedabove Education definitely plays a vital role in the

    development of any nation.

    Education in general and higher education in particular isnow accepted as an instrument for the socio-economicdevelopment and this is true also in the case of in the

    global economy.

    Educational cooperation and mobility between Nations willdefinitely enhance the pace of economic developmentthrough mutual understanding of cultural and institutional

    contexts.
