Greetings to Vasavian Friends!Conducting service programmes when conditions
are calm is one aspect. Another aspect is offering
a helping hand in difficult times. Though the first is
no less, the second help is unforgettable.
Remembered forever. When COVID 19 or Corona
which is pandemic known to all is trying to create
turmoil in our country, the governments at the
state and centre are fighting this tiny microscopic
virus in order to save the lives of people. In such a
scenario Vasavians are offering help with Vasavi clubs
as their platform. Distributing masks, providing
awareness through banners and such, sending
emails to district authorities that they are willing to serve voluntarily, support
to government schemes through social media…joining in the march through
various ways is satisfying. Our ancestral Goddess Mother Vasavi tried to
avoid the disaster of war. On the occasion of Mother’s birth anniversary
approaching let us protect ourselves and try our best to save others.
During lock out time we shouldn’t cross our thresholds. So, during
this time let’s use this time to plan for the administrative tasks as
the programmes in the upcoming months have been delayed. Let
us use mobile phones and smart phones as tools for this.
In the month of March, in various places ‘Ammaku Gouravam’ cabins
have been started. In every Vasavi district tens of these are ready
to be started in railway stations and bus stands. After the dangerous
times pass, these will be inaugurated.
There are preparations being made to create awareness in young
women by the name ‘Jagruthi’ to be conducted in all places in
the months of May and June. The aim of this programme is to
create awareness on in young women about the contemporary
issues in the society.
The more we immerse ourselves into social service…
Hoping that the more the Mother Goddess’ kind gaze will be on us..
Always at your service…
yours

UNDERSTAND..ENCOURAGE.. INSPIRE!Dear Vasavians!Greetings from Chairman,
Publications 2020 Vasavian
Mooshtiala Sankar.
Three powerful devices to take your
life to higher levels…understand,
encourage and inspire. Instead of
discouraging, encourage, instead of
criticizing, understand, instead of
waiting, take the initiative to step forward.
Though we worked hardly for fifteen days in March,
we could do several programmes. Inauguration of
new clubs, INSPIRE training programmes.. special
programmes ‘Ammaku gouravam’ and ‘Vanithaku
Vandanam’ the felicitations taken up on Women’s
Day, the summer drinking water kiosks started on
Potti Sriramulu birth anniversary.. All these are
programmes that raise our reputation. All the
programmes provide us satisfaction. It is a matter
of pride that VCI received the Wonder Book of
Records prize.
We cannot change the upcoming future. But if we
change our habits, they will change our future.
If the Corona virus lockdown which started in the
fourth week of March ends in the second week of
April, there are a lot of programmes for us to take
up. Especially on April 23rd on the occasion of the
marriage anniversary of our International President
Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal and Vasavian
Thiriveedhi Varalakshmi, ‘Ammaku gouravam’ cabins
are being inaugurated in a big way. April is going to
host several more programmes.

8SRI VASAVI NEWS APRIL 2020
VCI is actively participating in war to control
Corona virus. All Vasavians became a part of
Janatha Curfew. Vasavians became a part of
the movement of restricting citizens to their own
houses, taken up by the central and state govern-
ments, with VCI strongly believing that maintaining
social distance is the only weapon. The International
President Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal who post-
poned programmes like INSPIRE training, ordered the
district governors to postpone all district level
programmes. Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal, who
had to come to Hyderabad VCI Central office for ex-
ecutive decision on March 20,th cancelled his tour.
After INSPIRE in Vizag on March 14th to 16th and
decentralization meeting, the International President
postponed all his programmes and has confined him-
self to his native town Jangareddigudem. Finding
out about the well-being of Vasavians from there
through phone, he is creating awareness on Corona
virus through WhatsApp and social media. He is cre-
ating awareness of our share of responsibility in fight-
ing this pandemic.
Cancellation of programmes..support to Janatha
Curfew
VCI which functions with social service and social
responsibility as its lifelines, has cancelled all
programmes from March second week, according to
the directions of the central and state governments'
orders. Vasavians were sensitized through WhatsApp
groups before March 22nd when the
Janatha Curfew was ordered. It
suggested that they create
awareness in the people around
them. With that, Vasavi Clubs
have started have started cre-
ating awareness to contain Co-
rona virus. Some clubs dis-
tributed masks for
free. With the scarcity
of masks in the mar-
ket, the local appre-
ciated the gesture of
Vasavi Clubs. It is
noteworthy that a
few other clubs
distributed sani-
tizers with the co-
operation of do-
nors. It is also
significant that many clubs got banners made on sug-
gestions for restriction of Corona and placed them,
at crowded places.
Social distancing
The very name Vasavi Clubs means meetings, con-
ferences, get togethers and games. If a few Vasavians
come together at a place there
is usually a bustle. Friendship,
brotherhood and mutual coop-
eration are the aspects of the
journey of VCI. All the year
through, hundreds of Vasavi
clubs are engaged in one or
the other programmes. Sun-
days and other holidays are
times of relaxation for others.
But, for Vasavians those are
the suitable times for service
and to meet others. In such a
scenario, for the first time in
VCI history, Vasavians have
been away from such pro-
grammes for a fortnight in the
month of March. In the place
of Social gathering, Vasvians
are following social distancing.
In order to contain the spread
of Corona virus the method
followed world-wide is social
distancing.

OTHER PRECAUTIONSVirus preventive sprays must be made in places used most by
the public. Especially railings, door handles, life gates, floor but-tons etc must be sprayed with disinfective sprays. And wearing amask that covers the nose and mouth while going out, and fre-quently sanitizing the hands with alcohol based sanitizers is advis-able.
A few directives by the central government on following so-cial distancing:1. Small and big conferences must be cancelled.2. If a wedding is already fixed, it should be performed with the
least number of people.3. When you go out to ration shops or groceries or medicines,
the shop keepers must ensure that social distancing is main-tained.
4. Travelling must be avoided as far as possible. Government agen-cies should take up virus preventive measures.
5. Hospitals should take up managing COVID-19. Family membersmust not be allowed to visit virus positive patients. They mustbe regulated.
6. Special precautionary measures must be taken in the case ofonline delivery boys.

Prakash Rao, Intl.
Executive Vice Presi-
dent donating Rs.10
lakh to CM relief fund
to combat corona. He
is handing over
cheque to Prakasham
Dist. collector along
with his brother.
What is social distancing?
Social distancing means-avoiding physical
contact, staying alone as far as possible
and staying away from crowds. By this we
can avoid contagious diseases which are
spread by human beings as carriers. Since
Corona virus is spreading from person to
person, now social distancing seems the
only solution possible. China which has
already been devastated by this virus is
moving towards controlling it by confining
people to their homes.
Since COVID-19 virus is spreading from
infected persons to others, doctors are
suggesting that following social
distancing is the best solution.
Moving closely with an infected person
or being close to someone who
develops symptoms in the next 24
hours.
If you move closely with someone who
has confirmed virus and has cough and
breathlessness.
If a virus infected person coughs or
sneezes and you touch the things on
which the droplets have fallen and then
touch your eyes, nose or mouth,
corona virus spreads from one person
to another.
With this being the risk, as Corona
positive cases increase, they are
suggesting avoiding meeting people
and staying at home (home
quarantine). By this the spread of the
virus decreases gradually.

He could increase his size toany extent he wished to.Hanuma speaking thus to
Surasa, became angry and becameten yojanas long and ten yojanaswide.Seeing Hanuma, who looked like acloud, being ten yojanas long,Surasa also made her mouth twentyyojanas long. Thereafter, Hanumagot angry and became thirtyyojanas long. Surasa made hermouth forty yojanas high. Thecourageous Hanuma then becamefifty yojanas high
" Hanuman could assume any format will.
Casting off his monkey's sem-blance Air-god's son Hanumaattained the persona of an ascetic, for that monkey is incredulous inmind about Raghava-s
" Hanuman had unlimited strength.Hearing those words, Hanuma,
having sprung to Mount Oushadhi, could not identify those preciousherbs and became thoughtful. Thefollowing thought arose to thatHanuma, whosestrength wasunlimited: "I will go back, taking this

invulnerability againstcelestial missiles and
nooses.I am incapable of being
bound by missiles and nooses even bycelestials and demons. This boon cameto me also from Brahma only.
These are the powers of the mightyape known as Hanuman mentionedexplicitly in Valmiki's Ramayana.
There are things however, I wish toadd- Hanuman was stronger in physicalstrength than Ravana, Indra,Kumbhakarna, infact he was thestrongest in all of Ramayana and themahabharata as well.
Hanuman lifted up the body ofLakshmana which Ravana couldn't.
Ravana tried to lift Lakshmana butfailed.
Though he was able to lift upHimavat, Mandara and Meru mountainsas also the Three Worlds with the Gods,he could not raise Lakshmana theyounger brother of Bharata.
Ravana that thorn in the side of theGods, though overcoming thatLakshmana who removed the pride ofdemons, was unable to bear him awaywith his hands.
Hanuman on other hand liftedLakshmana not only due to his greatphysical strength but also due to hisgreat devotion towards him.
Then, the courageous Hanuma liftingup Lakshmana in his arms, who hadbeen wounded by Ravana, brought himto Rama's presence. That Lakshmana, whom his foes were unable to move, became light for Hanuma because offriendship and great devotion ofHanuma the son of Wind-God towardshim.
Indra in days of yore, had lifted amountain and ran towards a rishi inanger, though he was defeated by therishi, now Hanuman lifted up mountainpeaks often as many times but he alsolifted a mountain and flew with itbearing the weight of that mountainfor thousand of yojanas.
Having uprooted that mountain, frightening the worlds together withthe leaders of celestials and demonsinhabiting them and being praised bymany aerial beings, Hanuma sprang upinto the sky and proceeded expedi-

Hanuman could increase his size, strength, energy at will which Indracouldn't..Indra's strength wasn'tmentioned to be unlimited similar toHanuman's. Same in case ofKumbhakarna, he had no great feat ofstrength other than lifting a mountainpeak.
Hanuman was never defeated byIndra at all, Hanuman was a child whenIndra struck him with his thunderboltas he was angered the child vanarawas reaching for the sun. They werenever engaged in a duel at all and Indraonly broke the chin of Hanuman, thevanara even as a child wasn't injured.
On scrutinising that you are unhurteven after hit by Thunderbolt, oh,ablest Hanuma, the Thousand-eyedIndra kind-heartedly gave you achoicest boon saying that your deathoccurs only by your own volition...
In Ramayana, only Meghnada andRavana were capable enough to handHanuman a loss.. Hanuman willingly lostto Meghnada's Brahmastra due to adesire for meeting Ravana and Ravanamade Hanuman momentarily reel fromtwo blows of his fist, Hanuman also inturn defeated Ravana and Meghnadaowing to his powerful boons/ illusionssaved himself from Hanuman's assault.
This is the strength and power ofHanuman.

Chilakaluripet Bus Stand by our International
President. In the month of March, two more Ammaku
Gouravam cabins were started. In the area of V105A,
one in Saroornagar Bus Stand in Hyderabad, in the
area of V202A one more in Narsapuram Bus stand,
two were started while in various Vasavi districts,
arrangements are being made to start tens of cabins
in their areas.
Noble thought-getting ready for action
With VCI making a policymaking decision to establish
mother feeding centres by the name of Ammaku
Gouravam in crowded places like bus stands and railway
stations, and the International President Vasavian
Thiriveedhi Venugopal announcing the same in the
cabinet meetings that he attended, it has got deep
into Vasavian cadres. Almost all districts discussed
‘Ammaku gouravam’ in their first cabinet meetings. In
many districts donors have come forward generously
to bear the expenditure as contribution in arranging
the cabins. With that there is news that there are
arrangements being made in various districts for the
setting up of the cabins.
Permissions are crucial
For Vasavians who have completed the building of cabins
and identifying the donors phases easily, it is
understood that getting official permission for the
places from officials is causing delay. The Vasavi clubs
in the area of V107A, Karimnagar, Manchiryala,
Jammikunta, Bellampalli have already got that cabins
ready, but the district governor Kalikota Srinivas said
that they were waiting for permission of railway officials
as these were meant to be installed in railway stations.
They said that they had given applications for
permission to the railway officials and got response
from Bellampalli railway station. As soon as they get
response from the other three stations, they would
invite the International President and get the four
centres inaugurated by him, explained the governor.
There is a lot of waiting time in railway stations for
various reasons, and that’s why they feel mother
feeding cabins will be more useful on railway platforms,
said Vasavian Kalikota Srinivas.
In Saroornagar
In Vasavi district V105A, the International President
Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal inaugurated an ‘Ammaku
Gouravam’ cabin in Saroornagar bus stand close to
Hyderabad. While this is the second ‘Ammaku Gouravam’
cabin, it is the first in Telangana state. On the occasion
of the inauguration of a new club by name Saroornagar
Tricity, this service programme was conducted. The
International President expressed his desire that more
Ammaku Gouravam cabins must be started in this
district. In this programme that was presided by the
district governor Vasavian Pulluri Prakash, the club
president Vasavian Raja Raghavendra, secretary Sriram
Satyanarayana and treasurer Ravindranath Takur
participated.

In Bangalore
The first of the six phases of
INSPIRE in the year 2020 took place in
Bangalore on March 7th and 8th and was
attended by Vasavians of six districts
participated in it enthusiastically.
INSPIRE programme took place in a
pleasant atmosphere in Golden Amoon
five star resort on the outskirts of
Bangalore.
While the Chairman of 2020 trainings
committee Vasavian Ayitha Ramulu
presided, the International President
Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal came as
the chief guest and pilot faculty. 140
Vasavians who had registered from six
Vasavi districts participated. Speaking
on the occasion, Vasavian Ayitha
Ramulu said that this year trainings
have gained more importance as the
eminent trainer and motivational
speaker Thiriveedhi Venugopal is in the
position of the International President.
Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal who
is an expert in designing training
programmes and bringing about an
effective change in the participants,
planned the two-day INSPIRE progra-
mme compactly.
INSPIRE
First day- Second day-
improvement of Human relations
personal and family
capabilities relations
Any person would benefit from these
two types of trainings. First improving
INSPIRE-the personality
development training that
moulds Vasavians into the
best leaders took place
effectively in Bangalore in
the first weekend of March
and in the second weekend
in Visakhapatnam. A plan
was made to conduct
INSPIRE from March first
week to April second week
in six phases for a total of
30 Vasavi districts in 6
cities. The first two of
these took place in
Bangalore and
Visakhapatnam in an
enthusiastic atmosphere.
But the training sessions to
be conducted on March
22,23 and March 28,29
have been postponed
owing to the orders by the
government to contain the
spread of ‘Corona virus’,
informed the International
President Vasavian
Thiriveedhi Venugopal.
The schedule would be
announced duly. In the
first two phases, INSPIRE
was completed for
Vasavians of 13 Vasavi
districts. It is noteworthy
that Vasavians who
participated in INSPIRE
training said that for two
days they felt as if they
had been touring in
another world.
personal capabilities, then impro-
ving their relations with others-
personality development is possible
only by these two aspects. Vasavi-
ans are not an exception to this.
That is why the two-day programme
has been designed with the same
spirit.
MIND POWER
The International President and Pilot
Faculty Vasavian Thiriveedhi
Venugopal, in his first day of training
focussed on mind power which is
responsible for the rise and fall, for
victory and defeat of man. He
explained to Vasavians that even the
world famous scientist Einstein had
said that he had used only five
percent of his mind power.

BRAIN
LEFT SIDE RIGHT SIDE
 Logical abilities Mental emotions
 Analytical skills Creativity and desire
for novelty
 Problem solving abilities Artistic skills
In order to develop in his chosen field, a man has
to use both the sides of the brain effectively, said
Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal. By using any one side,
there is a chance that we may lag behind. He said
that we need to analyse if we are left brainers or
right brainers and make efforts to use the other part
of the brain. If anger and joy are controlled by the
right side, taking quick decisions depends on the left
brain, Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal explained with
examples. Vasavians were impressed by the way the
International President conducted the class using
everyday examples.
STAY HEALTHY-BE HAPPY
Another Vasavian trainer Narendra Babu spoke on
good health. He explained what has to be done for
physical and mental health. He suggested ways to stay
happy always. Another trainer Vasavian Dr Sudha Rani
explained about a sudden heart attack and the first
aid to be followed.
SECOND DAY-FAMILY RELATIONS
While the first day of INSPIRE took place with
enthusiasm and zeal, the second day, started with Jagan
Guruji’s speech and went on passionately.
IEC officer Vasavian HS Nagabhushana explained how
to lead a spiritual life while discharging routine
career responsibilities.
When TTTWS trainers Vasavians Ravi Keerthi and Dilip
spoke about the good things necessary for positive
life, all the participants listened with great
attention.
V303A governor Vasavian KS Prasad explained the
etiquette to be followed during buffet meals in
parties and functions.
Another Vasavian Amrith gave directions on subtle
matters like how the dressing should be, eye
contact when talking in public, body language,
attire and shoes.
CRUCIAL SESSIONS- FILLED WITH PASSION
After the lunch break, the International President
and Pilot Faculty, Thiriveedhi Venugopal’s session took
place. His spoke on a lighter vein about family relations-
relationship between spouses, relations with parents,
relationships of parents with children, and changing
circumstances. When he passionately gave live
examples, the participants of the training programme
were moved to tears. After listening to his speech, we
understood the profound significance of the family
relations which we always take naturally and commonly,
Vasavians commented.
The governors of three districts in Karnataka V301A,
V302A and V303A, Vasavians Padmavathy Krishnaprasad,
Anantha Raju, KS Prasad took the responsibility of
supervising INSPIRE. With the second day March 8th
being International Women’s day all the women who
participated in the training programme were called on
to the dais and the first lady Vasavian, the International
President Thriveedhi Venugopal’s wife adorned them
with tiaras. Offering gratitude to the services rendered
by women in the Vasavi movement, a cake was cut in
the presence of the International President. The
morning of the second day of INSPIRE attracted
Vasavians greatly with Yoga, meditation and interactive
activities.

the International President, TTTWS Drona

cation skills and how to develop confidence.

the fear of death. We tremble at the
thought of death. But Mother Goddess
Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari who lived
as a human got ready to sacrifice her
life as if it were trivial. What kind of
confidence should it need! What courage is
needed! When Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal spoke
so, Vasavians burst into applause.
The International President said that it is
impossible to judge the value of a woman’s role in
our families. She bears unbearable pain when she
delivers the baby she has carried for 9 months. Yet,
at that moment she doesn’t think of her own life.
She prays that the child that is born should be safe.
When Vasavian Thiriveedhi Venugopal explained
thus, Vasavians’ hearts grew heavy. Similarly when
a girl is married and becomes a wife,
she leaves her parents and siblings of
her maternal home and comes to be the
beacon of our house. Even if she is unwell
on some day she gathers energy and
makes all arrangements for us but doesn’t
take rest. We can never repay such mothers and
wives by giving anything, when the International
President said so, Vasavians were moved to tears.
The two day training took place interestingly, with
short skits, and making every Vasavian speak on
the dais for two to three minutes. While V201A
district took the responsibility of overseeing the
training programme, governor Vasavian Madhusudan
Veda and former governors worked actively to make
the arrangements.

18SRI VASAVI NEWS, APRIL 2020 19SRI VASAVI NEWS, APRIL 2020
Listening to the plea by the ascetics,Sounaka Maharshi started enunciatingthus. He blessed them saying, "Along withthe creation of Brahma, Vishnu andMaheshwara, O sons of Brahma! May yoube blessed obtaining the goodwill of LordShiva and live forever on earth with thewealth of amiability. The sons of vysyaswho thus reached earth on the behest ofBrahma were humble, tranquil-minded andwith a desire to get close to Lord Shiva, won the good will of Lord Shiva by stayingclose to nature. Just as the sons of vysyaswished, Lord Shiva entered Kailasa takingthem along. While they were living inKailasa, engrossed in worshipping LordShiva, a strange occurence happened.
Among the Vysya ascetics living inKailasa, a vysya called Sambhusreshti had adazzling daughter. Her name was Devaki. The beautiful girl was beyond descriptionin conduct, beauty and devotion.
On one day as Devaki set out for wor-shipping Lord Shiva, on the way, agandharva by name 'Chitrakanta' wasenchanted by her beauty and requestedSambhusreshti for the girl's hand inmarriage. "However great a person is,giving away a girl in marriage to onebelonging to a different religion is a sin.
How can a vysya girl marry a gandharva likeyou? It's not right. Please change yournotion. Sambhusreshti's words angered thegandharva. Then Chitrakanta, ignoringwhat's right or wrong cursed saying, "Youwho has rejected my request and pushedme into the agony of separation from mylove, shall become the beings of the earth. And you shall turn to ashes due to a virgingirl." The curse of Chitrakanta who wasthoughtless and driven by lust angeredSabhusreshti. He cursed Chitrakanta thus."You who has cursed us blinded by lust, shall be born on earth will fall for a girl ofour caste, suffer agony of separation fromher and shall die of her curse."
Later when Lord Parameshwara marriedParvathi and was in a happy get-together,the gods and the elite who had come tothe place brought a lot of valuable gifts,
the inhabitants of the earth came empty-handed. As Lord Parameswara asked Kuberathe reason for this, he replied, "Owing toTarakasura's atrocities the beings of theearth are at their worst condition.Especially since the vysyas who have trade
as their occupation having come to Kailasaby your blessing, the earth doesn't haveany trade or virtuous tasks and is in abjectpoverty."
Then the Lord of lords and Parvathithought together, and requested Kuberato make arrangements for vysyas to go andlive on earth. Immediately Parameswaracalled the vysyas and said, "O elite! Inorder for the earth to flourish with wealthand prosperity to prevail, you need tohave to go to the earth." Listening to thewords of Lord Shiva, the vysyas pleaded, "OLord of the Universe! What is the sin wehave committed? Why are you ordering uswho have come to serve at your feet, togo to the earth? Please have mercy on us."
Lord Parameswara blessed them saying,"In Penugonda, make preparations suchthat vysyas of 714 gothras live there withall kinds of wealth and prosperity and let it
seem like another Kailasa. Live thereand be blessed." In that way, as vysyasof 714 gothras were living happily inPenugonda, Kusuma Sreshti who wasborn in pendlikula gothra and wasvirtuous in every way and his chastewife Kusumamba were upset thatthey had no children.
Bhaskaracharya's assuranceOne day the couple invited
their ancestral guru (guide)Bhaskaracharya to their house, offered obeisance, worshipped
him and pleaded him to show them a wayof having children. Understanding theagony of the couple, Bhaskaracharya said,"You needn't worry. The Lordship of theUniverse will be born in your house. Inorder to have Lord Srimannarayana as son,King Dasaradha did Putrakameshti yaga. Ifyou also perform such yaga, your wish willbe fulfilled."
Just as suggested by Bhaskaracharya,Kusumasreshti along with his wifeKusumamba performed Putrakameshti yagaon an auspicious day. Impressed by theirdevotion and dedication, the God of Fireappeared before them and gave thempayasam (Porridge) for the birth of off-spring.
As their dreams come true, Kusumambagave birth to a son and a daughter.Watching the girl looking as brilliant as amillion suns, they worshipped that theLordship of the Universe was born in theirhouse. On the eleventh day they weregiven names. Checking their horoscopeand the time they were born,Bhaskaracharya named the boy'Viroopaksha Sreshti' and the girl'Vasavambi'.
They were growing day by day. Vasavigrew into a cute and pretty girl, who wasa feast to eyes. Kusumasreshti wanted toget his daughter married and was on thelook-out for a suitable bridegroom.
While the ascetics were offering penances in the 'jungle ofNaimisa' in the country of Bharath, Sounaka Maharshi, the onewith unlimited wealth of penance and well versed in puranas anditihasas (History), arrived. Overjoyed at his arrival, theyinvited him with due regard, worshipped him and sittingclose to him, asked thus. "O greatest of all ascetics! We garnered a lot of virtue listening to 'ashtadasapuranas' (eighteen histories) by your blessed voice. Now we wish to hear the dharma of thevysyas, their businesses, about their birthand future.

20SRI VASAVI NEWS APRIL 2020
Vishnuvardhana’s tour of the city
At that time, one day King Vishuvar-dhana who was of lunar dynasty and was ruling fromRajamahendravaram had completed his tour of victoryand on the return journey, was resting in a park closeto Penugonda. Having heard of the city, which was seenat a distance, as a second heaven, he was curious tovisit it. Coming to know of it, the eminent vysyas ofPenugonda gave precious gifts to the king and invitedhim to visit the city and accept their hospitality. Theking happily started off with his entourage first visitedNagareswara temple, had a darshan of the lord andreceived his blessings, accepted the feast and thenstarted to tour the city. The people had lined up onthe streets to watch the King Vishnuvardhana. Eventuallythe king entered the street where Kusumasreshti lived. In that evening time, the maiden Sri Vasavi set off withher mates for the darshan of Nagareswara Swamy. Seeingthe incredible beauty and charm like lightningVishnuvardhana was fascinated. “Who is this virtuousdamsel who is more beautiful than celestial dancers? Isshe married or is she a maiden?” he asked the vysyas overthere. Understanding the mind of the king, they repliedwith a little fear that she was the blessed daughter Vasaviand explained to him the story of her birth.
Her form wouldn’t get erased from Vishnuvardhana’smind. He fell in love with her and decided to get her.Observing the king’s desire, his minister Vijayasimhasaid, “By wedding or by war, I will get you married tothat girl.”
Rejection of the King’s desire
Next day Kusumasreshti was called and informed ofthe king’s desire. Kusumasreshti replied that he wouldfind out his people’s and the girl’s acceptance andrespond. In the same way Kusumasreshti called his relativesand elite and asked what he had to do. While some ofthem said that it was a great fortune to have the king ashis son-in-law, while others said that the king’s desirewas wrong and however great he might be, it is not rightto give a maiden to a person of another caste.
But in order to stave off danger from the king whowas along with his army, first in order to appease theking they said that they would look for an auspiciousday and inform. The next day after Vishnuvardhanamaharaja reached his capital, the vysyas along withtheir ancestral guru Bhaskaracharya assembled andreviewed the situation. Out of 714 gothras, people of
612 gothras said that it was okay to acceptthe king’s desire. People of 102 gothrasrefused to accept the alliance as it was
not of the same varna (caste). In spite of it being wrongto utter a lie, in order to protect dharma, they sent amessage through Bhaskaracharya that they couldn’taccept the alliance for their girl.
Vasavi’s Viswaroopa darsan
Mind filled with lust and disturbed, the king thought
that the girl had to be his wife, no matter whatever
happens. He said that he couldn’t be stopped. Fearing
danger from the king, people of 612 gothras said that
they should save their lives by giving the girl in marriage
to the king. Seeing all of them in fear, Bhaskaracharya
told them the story of the birth of the maiden Vasavi
and in order to uphold the dharma of their caste,
appealed to them to enter fire along with Vasavi. When
they asked Vasavi’s opinion, she said “I will not bow to
the lustful, ill-informed king.I will enter fire if the elders
permit.” She asked the 612 gothras people who were
hesitant to enter fire with her, to leave the place. She
said that the 102 gothras people who enter fire with
her would attain salvation. She showed her viswaroopam
to those who were depressed. She preached a lot.
For eight nights, along with her viswaroopam, she taught
several things.
Then 103 sacred fires were lit. All of them prayed
to Nagarewara Swamy for one last time. As she was
about to enter fire, Vasavi cursed, “The one owing to
whom people of 102 gothras, including this girl are
becoming fuel to the fire, that person who is
responsible will die of head-bursting as soon as he gets
this news.” Moreover she blessed, “The people of these
102 gothras will become prosperous Aryavysyas and will
be remembered by history.”
Eyes filled with tears, in order to uphold dharma,
Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari jumped into the fire. At
that moment Lord Sankara appeared and was seen
glowing having seated her in his lap.
The story of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari who,
remaining a maiden, became the bright flame in order
to uphold dharma, is filled with virtue.

Parents are always on the go throughoutthe year running behind their childrenjuggling between their homework topreparing healthy meals for theirchildren. With summer breaks makingrounds, parents are again busy planningtrips, summer camps to engage theirchildren into something creative andproductive.
Summer vacations also offer quality family time as we
move to a different place to rejuvenate but what
about the days when you have to convince your children
to stay inside the house? This article will help you with
some amazing ideas to keep your children busy over the
holidays. Sit back with a cup of coffee as you read down
these 20 ideas to keep your young ones creatively and
productively engaged.
[Please use your discretion to engage in the social/
outdoor activities in view of the Covid-19 situation]
10 Ideas to get rid of boredom this summer!
1. Start your day afresh!
Instead of sleeping for long hours and sitting home
all lazy, wake up in the morning and take your child to a
garden, local market or a library (Why the library? Read
here). Children are usually hooked up to their television
during holidays making them inactive. Get them outdoors
to unravel their surroundings.
2. Plan an impromptu weekend picnic
Children are known to learn and act as their parents
do, thus it is very important for parents to give the
right virtues and most importantly good memories.
Spending good time with children will help them to
connect and communicate better with the outer world.
Pack your bags and escape in the wild or a hilly place!
3. Bring back old school games
Let your child also experience the games you used
to play during your childhood. Simply plan out a day out
at a nearby park and let them have a feel of your old
school summers. Ditch the video games and cartoon
episodes and replace them with marbles, traditional
Indian games, top spinning and likewise.
4. Train your mind to Read!
Is your child a bookworm? Then buy them good
classics or novels. If not, then gift them some books
they would prefer reading and accompany them to read
it for at least an hour. Join a local library o get wide
access to books from different genres.
5. Engage them in writing their thoughts
Motivate your children to write down a daily journal
about anything they feel. It can be about the day or a
reminiscing trip. A colourful scrapbook beautifully decorated
with all their travel photos or a curated collection of stamps,
coins, newspaper clippings, etc. Children with good writing
skills can turn into bloggers too!
6. Make household chores fun!
Cleanliness begins at home. Basic cleanliness
etiquettes also include cleaning and arranging your room
accordingly. Parents can skip their daily routine of
sweeping and mopping for a day. If this doesn't work,
then put your children in house decorations during
festivals or special occasions.
7. Teach little hands to cook
Does your child wish to be a chef? Then this is the
right time to introduce him/her to the kitchen! Baking
being the latest fad these days, get their hands dirty with
chocolate sauce and get them into tasting burnt cakes.
8. Join a sports club
Sports can build confidence, sportsmanship and
enhance leadership qualities among children. Children
playing sports also develop a steady passion for
discipline, motivation, and commitment. Enroll your
children into a sports club and make sure you cheer
him/her during tournaments.
9. Learn as you cultivate
Organic farming is on the rise nowadays with people
coming up with kitchen gardens in the backyard. Over a
small patch of land, grow vegetables like lettuce, chilly
and give them the satisfaction of having produced someth-
ing. Studies reveal that gardening improves focus and memo-
ry, relieves stress and encourages them to eat healthier.
10. Take a step to enhance creativity
Parents should motivate their young champs to engage
in creative activities like movie making, painting, jewellery
making, photography, aeromodelling and such. Try to
introduce them to many such activities through work-
shops that will help in moulding their inquisitive minds.
